As a parent, teacher and resident of [STATE], I’m alarmed over the future of our planet, especially as the Trump administration moves to reverse the progress we’ve made to reduce the pollution that causes climate change.

Fortunately, there is a glimmer of hope, and it starts right here in our state. A new report by the Carbon Tax Center identified [STATE] as having solid conditions for enacting a statewide carbon tax. This means voters and lawmakers here have a unique opportunity to make progress on climate change, even during the next four years.

Scientists, economists, policy experts and climate advocates agree that putting a direct, transparent fee on fossil fuels’ carbon emission is the single most effective policy for averting the worst effects of climate change.

The clock is ticking. [STATE] legislators should move quickly to establish a carbon tax template for [STATE], other states, and eventually Congress to efficiently and fairly reduce our climate-destroying carbon emissions.
