Music On The Lawn: On September 9, Otterbein will be hosting our second annual outdoor evening of worship, creative arts, and speaking on the softball field behind the gym. The event will run from 7-9 p.m. and is open to everyone in our community. The evening will include worship and creative arts from five area youth groups, including our own, and will take place in the gym if the weather doesn't allow us to be outside. Everything is free (including food!), and there will be an opportunity to donate to a local charity. Bring a lawn care and come be led by the youth of our community as we worship God together!

The Missions Committee is again seeking your assistance with the “Apple Tree- Boiling Springs School Clothing Project.” This will be our fourth year sponsoring this community initiative. Over the past month, we have been worked with the School Counselors to help identify children in need of school clothing for this School Year. Students will range from Elementary to Middle School. You will find “modified” Trees in both the Narthex and Gathering Place, and they have sprouted some very large Apples. On these Apples will be the Gender and Age of the Student in need, the items that are needed and the sizes. At times, we will also include specifics about a favorite color or style related to those clothing items.

We hope you will consider taking at least one Apple, and more if you are able. Our goal is to help at least 20 students, providing them each with several outfits of clothing for the new school year. Please pick-up and read the Instruction Sheet that is available on each table. This guidance document can assist you as you head out shopping. If you have specific questions, please just ask us.

Additionally, it is imperative that you ask for and supply a GIFT Receipt for each of your clothing purchases. The receipt and Apple, should be attached to your purchase when it is turned in, so that we can match up to the Student ID information. You are asked to include a separate receipt for each of your purchases. In many instances, if you select more than one Apple, the Student ID’s may be different, and they will be unable to share the same receipt. If items do not fit, the receipt allows the parents to merely exchange your generous gift.

It would be very helpful if you could purchase and return your clothing items in a timely fashion. We will sort the clothing weekly and as soon as we have the full complement for a student, we can pack it up and get it to the School for disbursement. Although we have established a five week period for this initiative, our goal is to get these items to the students as soon as possible. We will be collecting items through September 17. We thank you in advance for your efforts.
