Re-Creation returns to Otterbein on Friday, December 21, at 7 p.m. for presenting their Christmas show. This is an amazing group that travels the US providing entertainment to our veterans. All are invited to attend.
Christmas Eve Worship Services - Bring your family, friends and neighbors to any of our three Christmas Eve services: 6:30 p.m. featuring our children’s pageant; 9:00 p.m. featuring our youth; and 11:00 p.m. featuring our adults and with Holy Communion. All services are candlelight
Christmas Tree Sale by the Boy Scouts of Otterbein - Sale is from Nov 23 to Dec 22 on the grass lots beside the church All trees are GRADE A (top rating for cut trees). Trees ranging from 5ft.-9ft. tall. Tree species: Fraser Fir; Douglas Fir; Blue Spruce; Concolor (new this year).
Free candy canes, Christmas warmth, and Scout cheer. Free delivery in Boiling Springs area. And this year we are also offering a free tree disposal service in January (Tentatively on January 5). We will pick up trees in front of the homes of our patrons and make them disappear.
Tree sale hours are: Fridays 6-8pm (10am-6pm on Nov 23); Saturdays 10am to 8pm; Sundays 10am to 4pm; Mondays 6-8pm.
Church-Wide Advent Study - We are offering a church-wide study this Advent, the season that leads up to Christmas, as a way of preparing our hearts to receive the Christ child. The study is called The Wonder of Christmas and it will be offered on Sunday morning and at three other times throughout the week. These studies are ongoing. If interested in joining in with any, please contact the church office for details.
Otterbein church office and Bright Beginnings will be closed between Christmas and New Years Day. The offices will be open again on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
Have you ever thought about deepening your faith? Would you like to know more about Christianity? Would you like to walk more closely with God? Do you wonder just what it means to be a United Methodist? - If you have ever entertained such thoughts, please watch for announcements within the next few months from the Christian Education Committee. We will be offering opportunities for you to delve into your questions and to help you become a developing and maturing disciple of Jesus Christ. Programs are being developed for all members - from beginning Christians to those who are farther along in their walk with Jesus. Please prayerfully consider taking advantage of these wonderful opportunities to enrich your journey of faith. We look forward to growing with you!
Missions Committee News - There is much to report on past activities and too on upcoming ones, such as for this year’s Christmas Alternative Giving and collection for needed items for the Salvation Army. Please Pray For Our Confirmation Class - Seven youth and their seven adult mentors began a journey of discovery. They will explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. We invite you to pray for them and ask for God’s blessing on this journey and this special relationship. This confirmation journey will culminate on June 2, 2019 with each confirmand taking membership vows and joining Otterbein Church. May God bless each confirmation pair with a wonderful journey of learning and growing.
Scripture Readers Needed: Pastor Bruce is looking for individuals to read scripture during the two sanctuary services on Sunday mornings. If you would like to serve God and Otterbein Church in this way, please sign up on the green sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the main hallway. You will be contacted the week you are scheduled to read and given the scriptures ahead of time so you can rehearse the readings.
