  1. PROCEDURE

  1. Reviewing previous Lesson or presenting new lesson

Have a drill on multiplication of whole numbers using the activity sheets. Involve three factors.

Review the formula in finding the volume of a rectangular prism.

Have a drill on finding the volume of cubes and rectangular prism.

Have a review on solving problems on volume. Give one or two problems for the pupils to work on.

  1. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

Group the pupils into four.  Give each a group a rectangular prism and guess the volume.  Have them explain how they were able to predict the answer.

Have them find the volume using the formula.

Give another problem and ask them to draw the solid figure described in the problem.

Ask the pupils if they can create a problem similar to the given problem about volume.

  1. Presenting examples/ instances of the new lesson.

Present the problems (A and B) on TG p. 308.

Read and analyze the problem.

Let the pupils present the solid figures formed.

Talk about the figures.

  1. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills.#1

Let the pupils solve the problem by pairs.

Use the 4-step plan in solving the problem.

Divide the class into six groups.  Let the pupils discuss with each other how will they make a problem based on the given situations on TG p. 311.

Guide and assist the pupils in doing the activity.

  1. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2.

Call some pupils to show their answers on the board.  Guide them in explaining their answers.

After the activities are done, Let the pupils post their created problems from the given situations and let them solve their created problems.

  1. Developing Mastery

(Lead to  Formative Assessment  3)

Discuss the problem on Explore and Discover on LM p. 237.

Discuss the problem on Explore and Discover on LM p. 24-242.

  1. Finding practical application of concepts and skills in daily living

Let the pupils do the activity under Get Moving on LM p. 238.   Check the pupils’ work.

For more practice, let them solve the problems under Keep Moving on LM p. 239.

Ask the pupils to work by groups under Get Moving on LM p. 242-243.

For additional practice give the exercises under Keep Moving on LM p. 243.

  1. Making Generalizations and Abstraction about the Lesson.

Guide the pupils in giving the generalization by asking some questions.

Let the pupils solve the problems on TG p. 309.

Have the pupils work on the problems on Apply Your Skills on LM p. 240.

Lead the pupils to give the generalization by asking: What did you do to be able to create problems involving the volume of a rectangular prism? What are the steps in creating problems?

Answer Apply Your Skills on LM p. 243.

  1. Evaluating Learning

Let the pupils work on Assessment on TG p. 310.

Answer Assessment on TG p. 313.

Check on the pupils answers.

  1. Additional Activities for Application or Remediation

Do Home Activity on TG p. 310.

Do Home Activity on TG p. 313.

Give the pupils remediation/enrichment.
