LEADERSHIP
Leaders are important and so is the ability to stand up and be a leader when you need to. Many of us use leadership skills every day of our lives e.g. We use leadership skills when we are playing hockey when we direct other players to spread out to help attack and defend.
Our task is to learn about and apply some of the skills of effective leadership and coaching. We will learn about what makes an effective leader and what some of the things they do that help them be great. As part of our learning we need to interview 3 different leaders from the community to see what they think about important leadership skills and attitudes.
We will put our leadership learning and skills into practise by creating a lunchtime basic hockey skills class for students who want to try out hockey.
We will have to decide on a timetable that will show when it’s on and what day to bring gear. We will also need to find out suitable times to do the lunchtime hockey so that nothing clashes with other arranged meetings spots jobs etc. We will prepare a programme of basic skills.
And then we will run the sessions using our skills.
Lastly, we will keep a diary of what we learn from our hockey sessions that show how we are using and developing our leadership skills (Mr A will help us with this).
