Taylisha moved to approve the minutes. LASO seconded. Motion passed.
Officer Reports:
President – Tam Nguyen
- A meeting regarding reopening the gym was schedule for the following week.
- It is estimated to cost $75,000.00 to build a sidewalk, so the college needs to work on the budget and Dr. Head will do the follow-up.
- Students’ wish list about the improvement of drinking water fountain will continue to be addressed.
- Dr. Head will be attending November 13 SGA Meeting to gauge student opinions on a variety of topics.

- Minutes are posted on SGA page in LSC4ME within 1 week of SGA meetings. Agenda posted before meetings.
• Sign in at every meeting will be done the last 15 minutes due to the issues where people just come to
sign-in and leave. If the club representatives cannot make the entire meeting, it is the club’s
responsibility to find the replacement.

Program Coordinator, Student Life – Norma Guzman Duran
- Reminder that Risk Management training needs to be completed by Thursday October 31.
- Clarisa from the North Star News can help convert files to JPEG format (.jpg), for clubs that need assistance.
- Volunteers needed for HECHO event on October, 26. There are about 50-75 people needed, and volunteers will receive $10 Minuti gift card.
Special Guest: Lynda Dodgen-Phi Theta Kappa Advisor
- Jack Kent Cooke scholarship applications are open. Over the past fifteen years, there have been three winners of the scholarship from Lone Star College-North Harris. Each winner could be rewarded up to $90,000 for three years. Help is being offered for applicants. Potential applicants were recommended to consult with at least one of the Phi Theta Kappa advisors: Laura Dupree or Lynda Dodgen when completing the applicatoin. A 3.5 GPA was needed to apply. Over $100 million has been given out to winners since 2000. The scholarship committee is looking for high achievers with low income who are graduating in the spring. For students not graduating this semester, advice was given to learn the requirements and make oneself very visible (be more active). One of the requirements for applicants is to be full-time students at the university to which they are transferring.

Announcements:
- Cultural Awareness in ACAD 126.
- Weekly meetings are held on Tuesdays- 12:00pm-12:30 in SC208.
- Asian Student Association for Progress:
- Meeting scheduled for October 21. This will be the 4th general meeting, and will be held in SC-207.
- Only nine clubs have appointed liaisons to the North Star News team. More clubs are recommended to sign up to be entered for free ad space. Winners of the raffle should send ads in TIFF or PDF format. Clarisa Carroll can help format the ad if needed. Deadline for ads was October, 25. For more information, contact NSN via LSC4ME.
