30th December, 1932.
Dear Mr. Macbeth,
I was pleased to receive your letter of 26th December,[1] and very much look forward to the pleasure of visiting you. A change from my very busy life here will do me good, especially a change to the Highlands of Scotland, where I always love to be.
Thank you for arranging to send your car to Glenealgles to meet me, and also a van for the canvases. I will bring with me everything necessary for the portraits, and also the frames, and will arrive, with my Studio Attendant at Gleneagles at 8.48 on Saturday morning, January 7th.
I understand that you wish to have the two single portraits of your daughters painted just now [3918][3919], and I shall hope later on, when you have returned from your trip, to have the pleasure of painting a group of Mrs. Macbeth[2] with them.
You very kindly suggest that I should bring my gun, but I think if you do not mind I will not do so this time, as it is so long since I have had an opportunity to make use of it.
I much look forward to my little sitters, it is always a great pleasure to me to have children sitting for me. I am just painting two charming little girls just now, the grandchildren of Lord Rothermere [4774][4776].
I hope to be able to finish the two portraits at Dunira in about eight days.
Kindly remember me to Mrs. Macbeth, and believe me | Yours very sincerely,

choosing the frame and bringing the canvases in them, as he usually paints in the frame and much prefers to do so.
Mr. de Laszlo understands that what you wish to have is a group portrait of the two children, and also a separate portrait of each, and I have quoted appropriate sizes accordingly on the attached sheet. Would you very kindly confirm that this is what you want.
Your reply at your earliest convenience will be greatly appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Secretary.
