”How We Celebrate”

”How We Celebrate” is a bilateral project between Poland and Lithuania. Cultural Center of Łukow is a host organization and so the meeting place for the youth is Poland.

The theme of the project is to provide the youth with the knowledge about the holidays, traditions and customs of the partners, as well as how they are celebrated and their history. Youth, in partnership with two schools in Lukow, each day of the activities will be celebrating selected Polish and Lithuanian holidays. Girls and boys participating in the project will also discuss the origin of the festivals, their symbolism and meaning.

The main objective of the ”How We Celebrate” project is for the Polish and Lithuanian young people to know holidays, traditions and customs of the partner country and how they are celebrated. Youth will also provide some video materials showing their selected holidays, customs and traditions, Polish and Lithuanian.

The main methods of work are countless discussions and experiencing of some holidays and traditions in a way as if they took place on a given day. Young people will decorate a Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, pour the water during the fake Easter, bake donuts on Fat Tuesday and visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier assigned to November 11.
