FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Second Nepean Junior Program Created to Support Knight’s Success
Nepean Knights Minor Lacrosse Association (NKMLA) is pleased to announce the addition of a new Junior C program for the 2019 Season.
[NEPEAN, ON - January 30 2019] Nepean has been blessed with strength in membership that have developed a number of championship teams in recent years. With only one Nepean Junior B program and no Junior A program in close proximity, our lacrosse community has faced a player capacity challenge. The addition of this new Junior C program will create the needed capacity at junior level lacrosse promoting continued development for our graduating membership.
The Nepean Knights Minor Lacrosse Association (NKMLA) will participate in the OLA Jr C. Far East Division, providing for 16 games plus playoffs. Participation in this league will ensure graduating minor players have increased development options. This will provide players exposure to the junior-level format and caliber as they strive to advance into Junior B and Junior A.
“We have had tremendous success at many age levels and we want our players to continue to grow together for years” remarked NKMLA President Colin Ross on the addition of this program.
About the Junior C Team – the team is owned and operated by the NKMLA. They will play teams from Montreal, Cornwall and Eastern GTA during the regular season. The team is managed by a nucleolus of NKMLA member volunteer families.
The team is proud to announce the appointment of Tanya Thompson as General Manager, who is a long time lacrosse contributor on the NKLMA board, Tournament Director, Zone Director and mother to Nepean player standouts Tyler and Zach. Coaches for the program will be the 2018 Midget A Champion bench staff – Wayne Lassenba & Jason Tasse as Co-Head Coaches, Greg Kent and 2 yet to be announced Assistant Coaches. The team will be supported with Technical advisors NLL All Star Callum Crawford and Nepean’s own World Champion MVP Jeff Zywicki.
The team mandate will be to develop players and act as a talent conduit to the Nepean Jr B program and interested Junior A programs.
