Paris, 7th February 1921

Dear Maestro,

I arrived here yesterday. My wife,^[1] not wishing to leave the children for too long, is in Deszk and is waiting for me to wire her to let her know when would be a convenient time to have her portrait painted [4588]. As soon as she has a precise date, she will set off. I do ask you, therefore, dear Maestro, to send me a wire when you receive this letter to let me know the date. Paris would be much more convenient for my wife, of course, but if you cannot leave London, dear Maestro, then she would go there for the sittings. Dates between the 25th of February and the 25th of March would be possible for my wife. For my own part, I will come to London next Monday, February 14th, and I would be very grateful if at that time you could be-

gin painting my portrait [4585]. I would like to have two separate portraits^[2], to the knee, and the dimensions should match those of the existing portraits of my father and great-uncle Fejérváry, alongside which they will be hung, in one room, which is to say: 165 cm. high and 103 cm. wide. I do urge you please, as soon as you get this letter, to telegraph with the dates of my wife’s sittings, since the travel arrangements and passport visas necessary for her to get here will take at least 14 days. Please also let me know if, when I come to London on the 14th of this month, I should bring my Hungarian attire and my decorations. I await your response on both of these points with impatience.

Kedves Mester,

Tegnap érkeztem ide, feleségem nem akarván hosszú időre gyermekeit elhagyni Deszken van és várja sürgőnyi értesítésemet, hogy mikor lesz alkalmas arczképének megfestése, mihelyt a pontos időpontot tudja, azonnal útnak fog indúlni [sic]; igen kérem tehát kedves mester, kegyeskedjen lehetőleg e levél vétele után az időpontot velem sürgőnyileg közölni. Feleségemnek persze sokkal alkalmasabb lenne Páris, de ha Ön kedves mester most nem hagyhatná el Londont, úgy oda is eljön az ülésekre. Az időpont február 25 és márczius 25 között volna feleségemnek lehetséges. Én magam jövő hétfőn, február 14-én jönnék Londonba és igen hálás lennék, ha az én arczképemet ezen alka-

lommal megkezdené. Két különálló arczképet szeretnék, térdig, a méretnek alkalmazkodni kellene Atyám és Fejérváry nagyatyám két meglévő portraitjához, melyekkel együtt lennének egy teremben felakasztva és ez lenne: 165 ctm. magas és 103 ctm. széles. Igen kérem legyen kegyes e levél vétele után feleségem séance-ainak pontos időpontját sürgőnyileg közölni, mivel feleségem idejövetele útlevélvisumok és utazási nehézségek folytán legalább 14 napot vesz igénybe. Azt is kegyeskedjen velem tudatni, hogy e hó 14.én Londonba jőve magammal hozzam-e magyar ruháimat és ékszereimet? Mindkét irányú értesítését türelmetlenül várom.
