Sir,
I have had the honour of receiving your letter of the 21st of February. I waited before replying to it, as the portrait of the Pope [4509] that you had sent to me from Berlin had not arrived yet. I eventually received the crate last night. It seems intact, and well prepared. On Monday morning, I will have the portrait unwrapped by special technicians who were not available today. Then it will be photographed to be reproduced in the catalogue.[1] I will send this catalogue to you later.
We are delighted that you will send us the portrait of Count Jean de Castellane [3765]. We will handle your two works[2] with the greatest care.
Yours faithfully,
Paul Lambotte

[2] De László also showed a portrait of Charlotte, Hereditary Princess of Saxe-Meiningen at the 1901 Brussels exhibition. It is unclear whether it was [12056], [5101] or [12059].
