LI: To understand how to change words to show there is more than one

When you are changing words into plurals there are some rules you need to follow.

To most words you just add ‘s’….. dog / dogs

To words ending in s, sh and ch you add ‘es’…. church / churches

To words ending in f add ‘ves’… leaf / leaves

Words ending in a consonant then y add ‘ies’…. Library / libraries

To words ending in a vowel then y add ‘s’…. key / keys

2. Read the story, and highlight the correctly spelt plurals.

One day I walked down a quiet road. There were lots of (houses/housies) on each side. My favourite one had four green (windowes/windows) and three blue (doors/doores). I looked in the garden, and there were hundreds of yellow (floweries/flowers). Then there was a big bang! I looked round and five (fireworks/fireworkes) had gone off in the sky. Running towards me down the road were 2 frightened (puppys/puppies), the (banges/bangs) had scared

them. Round the corner there were four green (cars/cares) parked in a straight line. In the cars there were lots of children clapping their (handies/hands). They were going on their (holidayes/holidays) to Spain. One child told me that there would be lots of (beachs/beaches) and they were going to make (sandcastlies/sandcastles) and eat (lollys/lollies). I had a nice walk that day, I'm going to go on two (walkes/walks) every day now!

One day the two wives bought geeses and flamingoes.The next day the men Brought home some Wolves and sheep none of them liked each other so the elves built a place for each animal to live in. The elves made the homes for the animals out of scarves and wood. Every day the Wives and Men would feed the animals loaves of bread and mangoes.Little did they know that animals could get sick from eating the wrong food every day.
