2101 Parts needed
M3 x 8 socket capscrews x5
M3 full nut x3
3 strips of foam non-slip matting, folded to go under the corners of the printer base
2102 Spiral-wrap wiring
This can be done with the full 2m length of cable wrap as supplied, but we find it easier to cut off about 1.2m for the first stage. Starting at the effector end, wrap the hot-end cables, removing the zipties as you go.
Some of the cables may prove to be shorter/tighter than others, and need adjusting by cutting zipties further down the route.
The cables will not fit in the gap between the extruder motor body and the Z-tower - they will get in the way of the v-roller.
Instead they cables need to be routed around the outside of the extruder-motor cable plug, picking up the motor cables on the way, and tied in this position with another 200mm ziptie. This is a convenient point to change to the other piece of spiral wrap if you cut it.
The cables will probably pull tight at the bottom, so cut all the zipties off and pull extra cable out from around the RAMPS board.
Wrap the cable to the bottom of the Z-tower, tidy up the existing routing and ziptie again.
2103 Fit reel-holder and filament guide
Install the filament guide on the ZY axis using the two nuts fitted to the extrusions during initial assembly. The spare TRAXXAS rod end screws into the plastic part. You should angle it at 45 degrees as shown in the picture.
Drop two nuts into the top channel of the top frame on the ZY axis, and one into the bottom channel of the same extrusion.
Screw the reel-holder to the nuts just fitted. Attach it as far left as possible.
Install the filament guide on the ZY axis using the two nuts fitted to the extrusions during initial assembly. Place it roughly in the middle of the extrusion. The spare TRAXXAS rod end screws into the plastic part, angle it at 45 degrees as shown in the picture.
Feed the filament from the top of a standard 1kg reel, through the eye of the Traxxas rod end fitted to the filament stop, and then through the off-cut of 4mm x 2mm PTFE tube left over from the Bowden tube and into the extruder. The PTFE tube will probably need to be shortened to run in a smooth curve. This should then draw the filament smoothly from the reel into the extruder.
