Dear Sirs,

 

I regret very much that I am leaving London on Saturday morning for the continent. And I do not think that I shall be back before the 23rd of June.

 

I have filled up the answers to the questions which you sent to me, and I hope that they may be of service to Mr. de Laszlo.

1.         How long have you known Mr. De Laszlo?

Since 1912.

2.         To what occasions and opportunities had you have forming an idea as to his character ?

On several occasions during his visits to my house as a guest.

Had you friendly and open conversations with him?

Yes.

3.         Did he ever tell you, before the War of his determination to settle in England and become naturalised?

Yes.

4.        Did you ever hear him speak of England and English people and if so, in what terms?

Yes in terms of the greatest affection and respect.

5.         Did you, after the Declaration of War discuss the war with him?

Yes.

What was the attitude he took up in regard to it?

Dislike of Germany?

How did he speak of the Germans, the Italians, the Russians, the Austrians and the Hungarians?

I have no recollection about discussing separate nationalities.

6.         Can you remember any words used by him which would tend to show that he was devoted to England and         loyal to her cause?

I cannot remember any special words, but the tenor of his conversation always led me to believe that that was the case.

7.         What opinion did you form as to his personal character and sense of honour?

The highest.
