- The magic of Austin Tech Week is that everyone attending speaks your language and they ‘Get it’. You can have meaningful and interesting conversations with anyone in Austin during the event - including volunteers and staff.
- ABC: Always Be Charging. This means your phone AND your brain. Only stay at events or panels that you find stimulating. You can find your tribe by following topics and tracks, but always choose speakers over event/panel titles or sponsors.
- What to bring: An open mind and sense of adventure, comfortable walking shoes with padded gel inserts, bag or backpack large enough for swag, an extra phone battery & charging cable, water bottle, business cards, notepad, rain poncho, jacket or hoodie, & sunscreen (this is Texas and the changing weather means you might need them all in the same day)

What to Eat in Austin

Austin Tacos:
Austin believes that we invented the breakfast taco, and one way to become a ‘native’ is to have a strong opinion about your favorite. My answer is Taco Deli for breakfast, Veracruz’s or Torchy’s for lunch/dinner, but the best tacos you’ll find are in an random food truck parked at a gas station.
Sparkling Water:
Wash whatever you’re eating down with a local sparking water like Topo Chico, Richard’s Rainwater, Rambler, Big Swig, or my favorite, Waterloo Sparkling Water. Mix in a little tequila, and you have another Austin original, Ranch Water.
Austin BBQ:
Franklin’s is worth the 2+ hour wait in line in any other situation except for SXSW when time is precious. Try Iron Works near the Convention Center or Terry Black’s near the Palmer Auditorium. Further out, Stiles Switch, Interstellar, and LeRoy and Lewis are excellent representatives of Austin BBQ.
Austin Tex-Mex:
Authentic Austin-style Tex-Mex is easy to find near Downtown.
