PASTOR AARON POWERS

Favorite verses are Acts 2:23 and Romans 10:13 because they prove that there is salvation for all who will come to Jesus.    Favorite song is It Is Well with My Soul.  Pastor Aaron comes from a long history of preachers and a family full of singers and musicians.  He has been saved for 28 years.  At 4, he accepted Jesus in his heart and was saved, At age 8, he realized there was more and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and at age 16 he was called into ministry.  

Pastor Aaron began full time pulpit ministry in 1998 as an evangelist.  After years of evangelism and youth  evangelism, he knew the drive to learn more and do more was inside of him and decided to go back to school to study  Christian education.  He went to Pfeiffer University, where he graduated with a bachelor degree in youth ministry.  

In 2004, he became a youth leader with the Randleman Church of God and helped in the music and youth ministries there.  In 2006, he became the full time youth pastor at Jonesville Church of God serving under Reverend Phillip King.  It was there, that Pastor Aaron met the love of his life and his future wife, Stephanie.   In 2008, Pastor Aaron became the full time senior pastor the North Wilkesboro Church of God.  In 2000, Pastor Aaron had the privilege of going on a mission’s trip to India, where he helped in leading 17, 864 people into salvation.  

In 2011, Pastor Aaron became the Pastor of The State Street Church of God and helped in replanting, revitalizing, and rebirthing the church.  He helped in leading the church into change and in 2013; the first step of this change was a new name for the church.  It was then, that the State Street Church of God was given its new name, Gate City Church of God and in May 2014, he will celebrate 3 years with Gate City.
