Teams must consist of at least 1 female player (either male/female or 2 females). When subs are used this rule is still in effect. A player may be replaced during the season, but must sign the roster (original player crossed off) and the replaced player may not come back.
FORMAT
2 person teams play another 2 person team each week for a doubles match (please check the online schedule each week for court and assignment, or check with the coordinator before your match)
If a doubles team is missing a player for that week they may provide a “substitute” player.
If both players on a team are missing the other team will receive a 2-0 set (6-0, 6-0) forfeit win. If one player is forced to play alone against a doubles team the single player will only be required to cover the singles lines (the alleys will be out for the other team). FOR PLAYOFFS SINGLE PLAYERS MUST ALSO COVER THE DOUBLES LINES.
Two or more forfeits by a team during the season may result in removal from the league.
If you are unable to make a match, please discuss with your partner and try to get your own sub, if the team can not find one please contact the office so may assist in trying to find one!
SCORING
Matches are best of 3 sets following regular tennis rules: sets are played to 6 games, must win each set by 2 games, standard 7-point tiebreaker to be played at a 6-6 game tie (win tiebreaker by two).
Receiving team is to make in/out calls by the honor system. If a team feels a call has been made incorrectly they may ask (but not necessarily granted) a “replay”. If a team feels several calls are being missed, a neutral 3rd party may be asked to watch and settle disputes (if agreed upon by both parties or the Tennis Coordinator).
Please direct all questions/disputes to the Tennis coordinator. After match please record player names and scores on score sheets provided and turn in to the Tennis Coordinator so they can be accurately recorded on the website. If matches are ended due to weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, the match will become official once one full set has been completed.
An incomplete 2nd set will not be scored and will be decided based on first set score. An incomplete 3rd set score WILL be used to determine winners when a match is tied a set apiece.
Players playing in a 3rd set should make every attempt to not end an incomplete 3rd set tied (play out the next game if at all possible).
PLAYOFFS
The final week will consist of one set bracket playoffs. Seedings will be based on 1) win/loss record, 2) overall sets won/lost differential, 3) overall games won/lost differential, 4) head to head play with 2 teams tied, 5) coin flip. All teams will still play the final week .Losing teams may pair up and play "for fun" matches.
Only the two rostered players may participate in playoffs (subs are not allowed). If a player is missing they may play with one player.
ETIQUETTE
Please play with respect of your partner, opponents and the facility. Cursing, yelling or throwing your racquet may result in ejection from the complex and league.
