LatePass Guide for Students

  1. LatePasses allow a student to self-extend assignment due dates, so you can access them for a grade. Your instructor decides whether or not you have access to LatePasses. If your instructor has given you LatePasses, you can use a LatePass to extend assignment due dates by clicking the Use LatePass button either below the calendar:

or in the chapter folder.

  1. Upon clicking the Use LatePass button, you will see a screen explaining how long the LatePass extends your due date for, and how many LatePasses you will need to use to access the assignment for a grade. To continue and use your LatePass, click Yes, Redeem LatePass(es):

Depending on how long the LatePass extended the due date for, the assignment will now be moved on the calendar.  For example, the assignment extended in this example was due on 8/29/24, and I used one LatePass to extend the assignment 24 hours, so it now shows on the day 8/30/24 on the calendar. Click on the assignment link to access the assignment, either below the calendar:

...or in the chapter folder:

  1. If you want to use a LatePass, but accidentally don’t click the Use LatePass button, and instead click on the main assignment link for a past due assignment, you will see a warning screen that explains the assignment is past due.

On this warning screen, you can still use a LatePass by clicking Redeem LatePass:

Please be aware that if you do not click Redeem LatePass here, and instead click on Practice, you will be in ungraded practice mode, and will no longer be able to use a LatePass on this assignment.  The warning screen also explains this. Thus, only use Practice mode if you do not need to access the assignment for a grade, and don’t want to use a LatePass. If you accidentally click Practice here, you would need to reach out to your Instructor if you want to get the ability to use a LatePass back.
