Unit Title: Google Slides     Grade: 7

Pacing (Approximate)- 14 classes

Big Ideas/Enduring Understandings:

        Google Slides is an easy efficient application to use for creating slide shows.

        Google Slides easily allows the user to share and collaborate with others.

        Slides Toolbar has all the necessary document formatting tools.

        There are added formatting and helpful tools in the menus.

        Google Slides should be used as a visual aid when giving a presentation.

        It is important to logically organize your ideas when creating a presentation.

        It is important to focus on eye contact, volume, pacing when communicating your ideas to your audience.

        It is important to use Google Slides effectively while presenting to your audience.

Activities

  1. Backgrounds and Transitions- Students will create a 4 slide presentation to practice formatting slides and adding transitions.
  2. Rules for Online Safety- Students will create 6 slide presentation using the information from The Rules for Online Safety document.  The presentation must have text, images, animations, transitions.  
  3. Final Presentation- Students will create a 7+ slide presentation on a topic of their choice. They will then be required to present it.

Assessments

All assessments are hands-on portfolio assessments. Documents  are created and used every class. Students will give a final presentation at the end of the unit. The students will be assessed based on the Common Core standards for speaking and listening.
