IBL guys are breaking opto-boards carolos gave me 6022 which now has a broken VCSEL2 and 6002 which he says has no PIN current.  We need to check / fix these. Also we need to do an IBL inventory and I need to come back to install IBL.

Testing new problematic board 4064. Tayfun claims it has readout problem with one of the VCSEL channels, and this problem is not stable, sometimes it disappears in the same setup.

To replace this optoboard, I gave him another one from the newest batch - #4112.

4064 - 385 mA, Channels 7, 8, 9, 10 have lower optical power (~1300).

VCSEL1 connector is not stable. The black optical fiber connector is shaking, and if I change a little fiber’s position, channel 0 starts having error counts. This is also visible in oscilloscope (some error counts curves, plus the shape of the signal is a little different). If I press the cable down, the errors disappear. This doesn’t happen with DORIC or VCSEL2 (the fiber connectors are glued strongly). Only VDC channel 0 has this issue.

New patch from Jason is almost fine. There is no signal readout from channel 7 (both optical power and oscilloscope). Also, DORIC shows all data errors, I need to set “all 50%” to be able to set zero errors for all channels.

IBL test seems to be fine except DORIC test with Stop Errors: it’s not displayed.

A new set of optoboards to be connected to the optobox

4055, 4056, 4035, 4036, 4052, 4053, 4028, 4030

Re-tested 4051 with the new LabView code, using correct version of hep015a_nsqp_rev1.bit file. Now the software works fine. Checked this with the B--type board as well (5016) - works fine with this one too.

Tested a new optical cable, from the official production. Doesn’t seems to have any problems, mapping is correct.

Retesting 2 previously problematic optoboards

5010 - 386 mA, all channels no errors, optical power is OK

5013 - 376 mA, DORIC channel 6 has both Clk and Data errors, optical power is OK

 

Optoboard from the optobox had 20 mA Iset (at least was shown in DCS - not clear if the optoboard has received the full current), the optoboard is from Slot1, the edge of the optobox

4042 - 362 mA, errors ar ok, optical power is OK

An accident: while removing board number 4040 from the Slot6 of the optobox (very tight!), the connector of VCSEL1 got damaged. The board got accelerated and flight out from the box, falling on the floor. The optical fiber still can get into VCSEL connector, test shows no problem with the optical power or error counts for both DORIC and VCSELs.

Testing optoboard 4051 which was connected to Slot 11 of the optobox. This slot have received the inverted ISET polarity signal.

4051 - 362 mA, DORIC - all channels have Clk errors, channels 1,3 and 5 have a wrong signal shape (2 times shorter), channels 1,2,3,4,5,6 (all except channel 0) have Data error problem.  

VCSEL - channels 8 and 9 have VDC Data errors problem, despite the shape looks fine.

Optical power is OK.

Testing optoboard 4032 which was connected to Slot 4 of the optobox

4032 - 388 mA, DORIC - all channels have Clk errors, channel 1,3 and 5 have a wrong signal shape (2 times shorter), channels 1,2,3,4,5,6 (all except channel 0) have Data error problem. Optical power is Ok

For the reference, testing another D-board

4039 - Optical power test seems to give a normal result (no asymmetry between two VCSELs)

4033 - the same optical power as tested yesterday (first 7 channels have lower power). VSEL2 connector got broken when I was disconnecting optical fiber... 2nd connector broken this way...

4055 - the same optical power test result as yesterday (first 7 channels have lower power). 

4053 - the same optical power test result as yesterday (first 7 channels have lower power).

4030 - the same optical power test result as yesterday (last 7 channels have lower power).

4062 - the same optical power test result as yesterday (channel 2 has a low optical power, ~860 uW)

5000 - The board is, probably, fine. There is a problem with the channel mapping (probably with the LabView macro -- or with the chip?). Channels for VCSEL2 are shifted by 2 when trying to set the correct delay for Stop Errors test. The response matrix is following:
