Sensory Recount

IALT - create a short sensory recount of what I saw, felt, smelt, and heard when I was in the sensory garden.

Success Criteria: I know I am successful when…

1. I can use my starter sentence to start my recount.

2. I can use my senses to create interesting senses for my readers.

3. I can use poetic language and devices to help make the images in my recount come alive.

Using our senses we wrote a short paragraph about what we could see, hear, feel, and smell.  Below is my short paragraph.

We also looked at adding interesting things we saw and trying out a poetic device like a simile, metaphor or alliteration.

Sitting in the garden ...

I saw some green leaves growing on a tree.  They were looking very peaceful sitting there. Then I heard the faint sound of dry leaves crackling like a small twig snapping in half. Then I felt a rock sitting in the sun. Ouch! It felt like a steaming molten rock hitting my hand. I smelt a whiff of good natural wildlife. All around me things were happening.

Well done James. This is a great short recount of what you observed in the garden. You have used some interesting language and images to recall for your readers. Your next step is to edit your work so you have it sounding and reading as best you can. MH
