ROYAL SOCIETY OF PORTRAIT PAINTERS.

President – SIR WM. ORPEN, K.B.E., R.A.

Hon. Sec. – HAROLD SPEED.

Dear Sir or Madam),

I am requested to inform you that by the courtesy of the Royal Academy the next Annual Exhibition of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters will be held at Burlington House during January and February, 1924.

As there will be considerably more space at the disposal of the Hanging Committee than heretofore, the Council hope that you will submit work, as it is their earnest wish to afford all portrait painters the opportunity of benefitting by the arrangement.

Artists who are not members of the Royal Society of Portrait painters can, at their own risk, submit two works, not previously exhibited in London, including portrait busts, for the consideration of the Council and Hanging Committee. Fifteen shillings per foot laterally will be charged to such exhibitors for all works accepted and placed on the line, and 7/6d per foot laterally for all work above the line (busts being charged at £1 each), such payments becoming due at the opening of the exhibition.

Schedule C[1] should be sent in with the works which must be delivered at the Burlington Gardens entrance of the Academy Galleries between 10 a.m. and 5pm on Wednesday, 9th January, 1924. Two labels should be attached to each work, one to hang over, in front, the other gummed to the back. All letters requiring answer should be accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope.

The utmost care will be taken of all works submitted, but the Society will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained,

Yours faithfully,

C.R. CHISMAN.

Secretary.

(110. St. Martin’s Lane, W.C.2.)

N.B. Kindly note that this is not a Special Invitation, as all work sent in by Non-Members will be submitted to the Council and Hanging Committee.
