FAQ

What email should I use?
This should be the best email address to reach you at. Please double check for any typos (if the email address in invalid and we can’t reach you, your request will be cancelled and you will not receive a kit).

  • We recommend that you avoid email addresses on private domains or school email addresses (@k12.state.us) as these sometimes have admin settings that block our emails.

What name should I use?
Give us your name that you would like to appear on the outside of your mailed package (It does not have to be your legal name unless your mail system requires that). If we have any questions, we will email you to verify this information.

  • For some folks who are not out yet, this may be your deadname, and we understand that.
  • For some folks who are "stealth", this may be your current name and that is fine, too.
  • Regardless of the name that must appear on the package - our goal is to not inconvenience you in any way.

Do I have to provide a phone number?
Yes. This is required for the interview stage of TYC's application process. However, the interview will not take place unless your online application is accepted. Please enter a valid 10-14 digit phone number, without special characters.
If you do not have a phone number to enter:

  • You may skip this step, but keep in mind, this may affect the postal service's customs process.
  • TYC may email you at the address provided, to discuss interview options.

What if I'm a minor?
If you are a minor applying to the TYC transitional supply kit you will be required to provide:

  • The applicant's Birth Certificate
  • A guardian's photo ID
  • A valid phone number to reach the guardian

What if I choose the wrong size?
Once you reach the policy disclosures section, you will be asked to verify “I have read and understood Trans Youth Coallition's return/exchange policy and understand that once my kit is shipped, I will not be able to exchange any item for a different size. It is my responsibility to perform the necessary research and take correct measurements."

  • Before your kit ships, you will be given an opportunity to email TYC to update your size without losing your place in line, if you have changed sizes since.

Is your shipping address based in the US or Mexico?
US and Mexico based applicants:

  • Your full mailing address should include a street address, postal code, city, state, and country.
  • We can ship to street addresses or PO Boxes without issue, but please make sure you have entered a valid street address.
  • Once you’re on the waiting list, you may update your address if you move by emailing TransYouthCoalition@gmail.com .
  • Due to customs requirements, US Territory residents (Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin islands) fill out the address as though they are international.
  • Customs: Customs, tariffs, taxes and fees assessed by your country cannot be paid by TYC. We will not attempt to reship a binder that was returned because it was not picked up from customs. It is your responsibility to understand how the customs process may affect you and to be prepared to handle that.
  • The customs form will list the contents as an “undershirt” and will have the item marked as a gift with an estimated value of $15.00 USD.
  • You will be asked to affirm that you understand the following statement:
  • “I have researched the customs policy for my country and understand how it may affect me. I understand that TYC cannot attempt to reship a binder that was returned due to an issue with customs.”
