Week 22 – 18/04/18

Plough 2, HHUSC A  3

Richard Wooton takes the Mens Highest Away Score (14060) in the last league game of the season !  And Ben Procter scored a good 5780.

Chase Newman for the hosts continued his good run, with 4850 – sufficient to be Premier Best Performance runner-up.            - Ian G

HHUSC B  3 St Francis 2

Paul Jobbins 2190 Roger Walbank 1570

Steve King 6470 Chris Little 640

Chris Kirkham 850 Bob Ellis 1610

iang 480 Shaun Morris 2730

John Lear 3900 Andy Robus 350

Shaun was down to 4 players at short notice so the order of play changed around, thanks to Andy Robus who made his League debut and played with injured wrists after a fall recently came along and stopped the walk over. (yes he is registered)

So we won the final match but still end up bottom of the pile so it's back to Div 1 for us.            – Ian Giffen

Hassocks B 0-5 CKRBL

Dilly lost to Peter

Jack lost to Andy F/W (6960)

Ash lost to Paul

Barry lost to Ted

Dom lost to Neil

A comprehensive victory for the visitors.

Dilly couldn't do anything .

Jack started with a grand , but then watched the master at work.

Ash stepped in for only his third game in two years, and got close due to his opponents liking for the black peg.

As the home top became difficult , the away captain put me in my place.

Neil got more and more frustrated with table, but still had enough to beat Dom.

Congratulations to Neil Higgins for winning top Division 1 player , and Ros the runner up, as I couldn't get across the line.

BUT…..

Congratulations to us for holding on to the spoon , in a contest which went right down to the wire. Hassocks B retain the trophy !!!!!          - Barry West

Watermill 2, Cock Utd 3 (@ BHCC)

So, as it turned out, no banana skins for the Cocky Ones with wins for Huw, Jan and yours truly to secure runners-up place, and Craig and Tony winning for the Millers.

A very enjoyable, relaxed evening at their temporary home with bangers and chips to round things off. I hope they get back to their rightful home soon though - that refurb seems to have taken ages!                - Dave Tiffin

Windmill Z 3, Hassocks A 2

Graham 6020, Rolly 1280

Johnny 3310, Boball 9440

Clive 5560, Derek 5380

Jim 3450, Lorraine 2070

Barry 2710, Peter 6660

Match played in relaxed conditions, some good bonding between the teams.

Hassocks outscored us by more than 3k, Bob particularly mastering the quick table.

Result went to us though, Derek allowing me a second go at the 100 hole to win.

Elsewhere we heard that both Chase and Richard won their games in the Plough v HHUSC A tie, meaning Chase held on for Best Performance runner-up, so congratulations to him. Also to Neil Higgins and Ros in Div.1 and commiserations to Barry West (I'd have lost my bet).                      – Clive T
