Prerequisites

Continuous-time dynamical systems, frequency analysis, state-space representation

Lecture goals

Basic about standard methods for analysis and controller design for dynamical systems. Ability of designing a H-infinity controller. Ability to implement a analysis of robustness with respect to parameters.

Detailed outline

Basics about performance of controlled systems. Tools for analysis of multi-variable systems (singular values, H-infinity norm). Lyapunov stability and dissipativity. Mixed sensitivity design method. Loop-shaping design method. Modeling of uncertain systems under linear fractional representation. Robustness analysis for systems with constant but uncertain parameters. Robustness analysis for time-varying parameter systems.

Applications

The second part of the lecture is dedicated to the aeronautic applications.

Acquired skills

After this lecture, the student will be able to deal with the robustness issues that occur in controlled systems. He will be able to evaluate the robustness of such a system and to care for robustness issues when making the synthesis of a controller.
