🌍 About NawaTech
NawaTech is a new startup in Syria working currently on Sawa, which is a ride-sharing mobile app aiming to make transportation affordable, accessible, and efficient in Syria. In a country where public transit is limited and fuel costs are high, we’re building a local-first solution that helps riders and drivers connect, share costs, and travel safely.

🎯 What You'll Do
- Build and maintain the Sawa Android app using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Implement features like trip search, booking, profile/photo management, and real-time location
- Work with the backend team to define and consume APIs
- Integrate third-party services like OpenStreetMap and messaging/notifications
- Assist with backend improvements or feature planning
- Collaborate closely with the founder and UX designer to iterate fast and release often
🧑💻 Who You Are
- You’re a mid-level (2-4 Years experience) Android developer with experience shipping real app
- Comfortable with Flutter or Jetpack Compose, ViewModels, Coroutines, and Retrofit
- You have experience translating Figma designs into implementation.
- You understand backend workflows (e.g. REST APIs, database models)
- You can work independently and value clear, async communication
- You have basic project management skills – you can estimate your work, raise blockers, and coordinate
- You are Fluent in Arabic.
- Good English communication skills.
- Bonus: you've worked with maps, images, or offline apps
⭐ Nice-to-Haves
- Knowledge of cross-platform tools (Flutter or React Native)
- Experience with OpenStreetMaps SDK and location APIs
- Familiarity with uploading and compressing images on Android
- Backend Development experience, preferably Spring Boot / WebFlux and PostgreSQL.
- DevOps knowledge / experience: Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AWS, CloudFormation.
- Prior work on a ride-sharing, logistics, or social impact project
🕰 Work Setup
- Remote — work from wherever you are in Syria.
- You'll coordinate with the founder and team asynchronously
- Optional in-person collaboration when the founder is in Syria
- Flexible hours — we care about outcomes, not timezones
- Compensation: USD 400-600 Monthly (Given full time 5 days week, 40h/week).
