Q: I can’t play with certain players, or frequent lag occurs.

A: Configuring your Router Setting may improve performance. Please follow the steps below and confirm your configuration.

1. Please go to the following site and check if you have optimal configuration:
PS3:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connecttest.html

PS4: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/nw_test.html

2. Port Forwarding

Please confirm the following Ports are opened (If Router’s UPnP is disabled):
TCP:80,443,3478,3479,3480,5223,8080

 UDP:3478,3479,3658

Disclaimer:

If your UPnP setting is enabled, performing the above method may not result in improving your connectivity. If so please disable your UPnP before Port Forwarding.

-If Router’s UPnP is disabled, please double check your PS3 Network setting to make sure UPnP is disabled. More info: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectadvance.html

-PS4 does not require above setting.

3. Configuring  ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol)

At your Router’s setting, enable ICMP.

If ICMP is disabled, you will reject incoming transmissions from other players, so it will cause interference with matchmaking.

If the bar-display (TL note: connectivity bar, like 4 bar, 1 bar connection) isn’t functioning properly, there is a high probability that you or your opponent’s ICMP setting is disabled.
