  • Social media can give people a sense of a connection that just isn’t there.
  • There are vastly different expectations and levels of competence between students, teachers, and parents on what should be known about how to use different technologies such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Prezi, Powerpoint, etc.
  • We need to model to teach people how to use digital technology responsibly, but we’re not doing it enough.
  • Would you think it’s weird for a stranger at a bus stop to say “Oh, you look good today!”? How is it different from getting hundreds of likes from strangers on Instagram?
  • As an exercise to examine the digital tattoo, an idea was to look at brands, and what students know about those brands, and how they know those things (eg. radio, online, social media, etc.). Then get students to Google themselves and to see what their digital tattoo is.
