Course Description (from curriculum guide)

Prerequisites: Current IEP, Placement by Special Education Team

Beginning Health Concepts is designed to engage students on an IEP within the structured learning program in the beginning concepts of healthy living. Concepts taught in this class include the importance of healthy diet and exercise, personal hygiene, appropriate water intake and sleep, as well as ways to reduce anxiety. Additionally,students will receive basic instructions on puberty and body changes. Students enrolled in this course are significantly below grade level and require individualized instruction.

Coursework

  1. Coursework is individualized to target student IEP goals. Refer to student IEP goals for more information, and contact the student’s case manager with any additional questions.

Grading

  • Grading is dependent on diploma type and agreed upon by the IEP team for each student. Contact the student’s case manager with any questions.

Classroom Expectations

  • Treatment Agreements will be decided together within the first month of school.
