All the Walls Will Fall: 2023 Palestine Liberation Resource List
Curated by the Popular University of the Palestinian Youth Movement
What the mainstream English-language media refers to as the ‘Gaza-Israel’ war is in reality the struggle of a colonized people for liberation. This struggle did not begin on October 7th, when Palestinians tore down the cement walls caging them in the Gaza strip. ّIn reality it began over 100 years ago. This historic moment comes as a response to the decades of ongoing land theft, war crimes, and ethnic cleansing carried out by Israel, the Zionist movement more globally, and Western imperialist states.
The Palestinian struggle is a revolutionary one: a struggle between the colonizer and the colonized, the oppressor and the oppressed—a struggle that will remain ongoing until the siege is broken, until all prisoners are freed, until Palestine is liberated from the river to the sea, and until all refugees have returned home. The steadfast Palestinian people of Gaza—who have been living under a suffocating and brutal 16-year long blockade—are correcting the path of history, and showing the world that, indeed, all the walls will fall.
In response, the Zionist state and its Western backers have openly proclaimed their plan to annihilate the Palestinian population of Gaza, undertaking a scorched earth policy that aims to genocide 2.2 million Palestinians. Along with this, they waged a media disinformation and repression campaign that weaponized anti-Arab and anti-Muslim tropes and messaging, circulating lies that incited hatred, greenlighting the brutal violence we’re witnessing against the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian Youth Movement has created this resource to provide an introductory level breakdown of the events of October 2023 and the history that birthed it. We have included four sections: 1) accessible primers and analysis, such as interviews, podcasts, videos, and short articles; 2) materials about the conditions of colonial occupation and siege on Gaza; 3) resources on the theory and logic of resistance to Zionist colonialism, including the objectives of returning home and liberating colonized lands, the capture of prisoners of war in order to free Palestinian prisoners, and the right of an occupied people to resist; 4) resources on misinformation tactics about the Palestinian struggle that are pervasive in mainstream imperialist media, along with resources to combat these myths. If you want general information about the history of Palestinian resistance, refer to our complementary resource, “Our History of Popular Resistance.”
Note: This is a live resource that we will continually be updating. We included a number of texts in Arabic that offer analysis and context for this battle that is rarely offered in the English media outlets. Even if you do not read Arabic, we recommend copy pasting the texts in Arabic into Google Translate or another translation service. The translation, while imperfect, will provide you with an overall sense of the arguments and main points being made.
