Book Jacket Report
1. Front Cover -- The front cover should include the book title, author’s name, your name, and a hand drawn/colored illustration. (Put effort into this. It is the first thing I see.)
2. Front Flap -- Who is the main character? Write a paragraph describing this character, their personality, their strengths and weaknesses, and the problems they face. Write down a quote that the character says in the book which you think is important (include the page number). Include an illustration if you have space.
3. Inside the Jacket -- Write a 3 paragraph summary of your book. The first paragraph should be about the beginning of the book, the second the middle, and the third paragraph should be about the ending. Make sure that you indicate what the main problem in the book is and how it gets resolved.
4. Back Flap -- Write down the titles of the three most important chapters in the book. Explain why each chapter is important.
5. Back Cover -- Write a paragraph persuading others to read this book. Make sure that you include information from the book in this paragraph. Include a small illustration (colored).
Make sure that your book jacket is neat and that you put effort into your work. You may want to write rough drafts in your writer’s notebook before you write on your book jacket. This will keep it neater, as you will not need to erase as much.
Please remember that the first, last, and all important words in the title of a book or chapter should be capitalized. A book title should be underlined and a chapter title should be in quotes.
If you have extra space, including illustrations can make your book jacket report look good. :)
