  1. The 6th Annual WSAC Golf Outing is Finally Here!

It’s not too late to join us for golf, fun, fresh air, and lots of socializing at our Annual Golf Outing Friday, June 20th.  Fire Ridge Golf Course in Grafton, is the place to be from 12-5 p.m. for lunch, golf and dinner.  It’s a 4 person scramble, so keep in mind you don’t need to be a golfer to participate and support this good cause.  Also, a number of people will be coming just for the social, wonderful food, and exciting raffle, so there’s something for everyone.  (Like who will hit the marshmallow off the tee the farthest?!?)

Proceeds from the outing go to WSAC.  The WSAC is a non-profit which provides aquatic programs for children of all ability levels, including those from underserved areas.

Here’s a link for signing up:  golf info.

Adam Mania  amania@wsacltd.org is our golf outing chair, but feel free to contact Schroeder South Coach Ann White awhite@wsacltd.org, Masters/Age Group Coach Wendy Frank wfrank@wsacltd.org, or Dive Coach Todd Hill thill@wsacltd.org with any questions.  We hope to see you there!

  1. SSTY Brewer Outing Sunday, Sept. 14th, Not To Be Missed!

Hope you and your family can join us for the team’s Brewers outing; the opportunity to sign up is now.  You can find the info on the team’s homepage.  For details, scroll down the homepage and click on SSTY Brewers Outing.  The date of the game is Sun., 9/14; Brewers vs. Reds at 1:10 p.m.

Tickets are $24 (normally $40) and our team will be sitting together in the Loge Outfield Box.  To order tickets, sign up just like a meet by clicking on Edit Commitment.  Commit to the event and then PLEASE PUT THE NUMBER OF TICKETS YOU WANT FOR YOUR FAMILY IN THE MESSAGE BOX.  Only commit under one child’s name.  You will be billed for the tickets on your August 1st invoice.

Keep in mind that it’s Robin Yount Bobblehead Day and the Brewers anticipate a sell-out.  Our team has a limited number of tickets available on a first come/first serve basis - when they are gone, they are gone.  To be clear, there is no guarantee we can get more (as 6/11/14, almost 100 tickets are spoken for!).

To make sure you have seats, commit ASAP. The final commitment date is JULY 1st if tickets are still left.

So come join the fun and kick off the Fall Session with the team.  For families who want to tailgate, there will be more info out later.

Questions regarding the outing should be directed to Robin Hayes:

hayes8395@att.net  A big thanks to Robin for getting this organized!

  1. Note from Rite Hite Center Executive, Keelyn Lyon about recent and important YMCA News

  1. Western Great Lakes Open - We reserved 20% more swims than we used last year and still exceeded our reservation by about 50 swims. We must cut back our entry. Athletes should be ready to reduce their entry and prioritize their least important swim.

  1. Central Zone 14 & U Registration packet is ready.  If you intend to go complete and return as directed the sooner the better.  You can qualify through the 12 & U State meet.

  1. USA National and Central Zone Open Water Championships Cassandra Jernberg raced in California this past weekend in both the 10 K and 5 K events.  Cass reported that the 10 KM was a little daunting but she was ready for the 5K and actually led for about 500 M when she got pounded by Christine Jennings.  Cass’ goggles got ripped off and she fell back to the second pack but finished strong.     The Central Zone Championship was also last weekend in Pleasant Prairie, WI.  8 raced from Schroeder for Team Wisco.  Isaac Jiardini won the boys 13/14 2.5 K event.  Results / news

1. Summer Weather is Finally Here!!!  Perfect Timing for Wilson Park and Having the Glass Doors Open at Pulaski Morning Practices.

2. Schroeder Wear is Now Available to Order.

Here’s your chance to outfit your swimmer, yourself, and other family members in Schroeder red, white and blue!  Schroeder Wear is perfect for keeping your swimmer outfitted for meets.  Plus, as our team continues to grow, you can find out who the other Schroeder parents are and say hello.

So take a look at the fun, new Schroeder apparel options:

https://www.bellascustomdesign.com/store/pc/viewcategories.asp?idcategory=177

The deadline for orders is July 3, 2014.  All orders will be delivered no later than July 18th.  Please order and pay directly through Bella’s Custom Design Website.

3. Great News About Schroeder Team Equipment:

Last week the owner of Elsmore unveiled a web page specifically for Schroeder families with Schroeder South primarily in mind.

Now if you want to order a team suit, team cap, practice cap, fins, paddles, kickboard, practice suit, mesh bag, goggles, etc., simply go to the Schroeder Team Web Site.  Click on the “Your Team Store Elsmore” icon located on the left side of the homepage.  Once you do that, you’ll see “This is Elsmore’s Exclusive Team Page for the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team” (among other instructions).  You can proceed from there.

Here’s the link to go directly to the web page: Schroeder Team Equipment Link.

Orders will be shipped out of Elsmore's main swim shop in Minneapolis the same day they are ordered.  Shipping is free for orders over $49, and is only $3.95 for orders of $49 or less.

Keep in mind that team apparel (Schroeder Wear) is not included in this because it is provided by a different vendor.

Please feel free to give us (your child’s coach) feedback on how this is working for you and your family.

So no more driving up to Brown Deer for team equipment for any of us! No more lugging boxes of fins around for Ann!  Whohooo!!!

4. Who do I contact for any question/communication I have regarding my swimmer?

With many different communications coming from the team, we know it can be a bit confusing as to whom you should contact with questions/communications regarding your swimmer.

It’s important to remember that the first contact should be made with your swimmer’s coach.  This means that Schroeder South Sr1, Jr1 should contact Coach Bob.  Sr2 and Jr2 contact Coach Amy.  AG1, 2, 3, Super 8, Schroeder Star and SuperStar parents contact Coach Ann.  Bob, Ann and Amy’s contact info is below in the SST South Office Hours section.  Please do not contact any Schroeder North coaches with questions unless directed to do so.

5. Schroeder South Think Tank (SSTT)

Come and join us for the second SSTT meeting this Monday, 6/23.  We’ll again gather at the St. Francis Brewery and Restaurant located at Howard and Kinnickinnic.  Meet and Greet is at 6:00 p.m., with an opportunity to order food and drink.  The meeting will begin at 6:30.

We want to thank everyone for the terrific response to SSTT.  We had 27 parents attend our first session.  The group laid the foundation for many exciting projects including the Wilson Park team cook-out (July 10th), a family Brewer Game outing (Sunday, September 14th), a team booth at the August 3rd South Shore Park Farmer’s Market, and a fall Team Raffle Fundraiser.

If you were unable to get to our first meeting, please come and join us Monday night.  We plan on breaking into small groups based on the project you’re interested in.  (For instance one of the groups could be choosing different sites for future SSTT meetings :).

It’s a great way to meet other parents, give your input, and help strengthen our team.

6. Upcoming Meet Info:  What follows is a review of upcoming meets and commitment deadlines; it’s a good idea to commit ASAP so you do not miss any deadlines.

7. How to Sign Up for Meets:

Parents are reminded ALL SWIMMERS MUST COMMIT OR DECLINE by the entry deadline for each meet and ALL SWIMMERS are expected to participate in the meets listed for their group on the meet schedule.

To find out all you need to know about any particular meet go to the Schroeder home page and scroll down to the list of meets.  To review meet information on a particular meet, click on the name of the meet and follow the links.

To enter your swimmer in a meet, scroll down to the list of meets.  Click on “Edit Commitment” for the meet (enter password if necessary).  Then click on Undeclared Athletes, scroll to your swimmer’s name, click on the name, commit (put yes) in the declaration box, and click on the save changes box.  Once the swimmer is committed, you may choose the swimmer’s events or have the coach choose the events (recommended).

If your swimmer cannot attend, follow the previous steps and put no in the declaration box.  Use the message box to explain why the swimmer is not participating as well as any specific entry directions (must leave the meet early, can only attend 1 day of a 2 day meet, etc).  When you are all done, make sure you click on the save changes box.

8. SSTY South Office Hours

10. SSTY South Lost and Found Is Now Located in Coach Ann’s Car:

When caps, goggles, suits or fins are left at any of the pools we practice at, the coaches bring them to the Greendale Pool and put them near the team bulletin board.

11. Mail Checks to Matt Miller:

Please mail all checks to Matt Miller rather than give them to coaches at practice.  We’ve never lost a check yet, but practice can get a little hectic!  You can mail them to Matt at the following address:
