OPENING/ INCITING EVENT

Int.- Mr.Ted’s Classroom

WIDE SHOT:

15,475,28 huddled in a group. Propaganda for enlisting in the military and fighting for our country on walls. Radio playing encouraging them to join the war and idolizing soldiers and life at war.

 EXTREME CLOSE UP:

475

Did they just leave us to die?

OVER THE SHOULDER:

15 speaking cautiously and looking at group as they speak.

What if we left?

Are you crazy? Of course not. The outside isn’t safe. We have everything here.

WIDE SHOT:

One of the members from the group is convinced that he is not leaving the camp.

Episode 1 rushes into room looking distraught and worried

EVERYONE is arguing in a circle.

We need to leave camp or we’re all gonna end up dead just like 38!

This is all I know, I can’t just leave.

And 38’s death isn’t enough for you?!

We don’t even know if it’s better here anyways.

Exactly we have no idea what’s on the outside. For all we know, we could die in less than a week if we leave.

Kids look at each other and stay silent. They’re all very tense and still in disagreement.

TRACKING IN

Okay, why don’t we go look for help, there’s gotta be somebody here.

The group looks around at each other and they nod in agreement.

CUT TO:

INT. HALLWAY - LONG SHOT

Kids walking through the hallway in uniform line not saying a word.

CUT TO:

INT. HALLWAY - TRACKING OUT

Kids walking through the hallway in uniform line not saying a word.

CUT TO:

EXT. FILE ROOM - MEDIUM CLOSE UP

Door reads “AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY”

Let’s check in here.

28 motions towards the door and leads them in.

TRACKING IN

Everyone goes inside the room.

CLOSE UP ON KIDS FACE

What is all of this?

Everyone is walking around the room and looking through cabinets.

Kids gather closer to the computer and have mixed emotions

I’ve seen her laughing in one of my dreams.

28 puts hand on photo of their mother. She stares at her and pauses before speaking again.

They stopped happening a few years ago so I kinda just forgot about them.

CLOSE UP - 475’s FACE

Hey....he kinda looks like me

475 smiles and stares at the picture with astonishment in his

Eyes

MEDIUM SHOT OF 13,28,475

Show them going through files, reading the documents about their families and where they are.

CLOSE UP ON 475’s DOCUMENT

The paper shows information about her parents and next to her father’s name it JUNIOR VALDEZ:DECEASED

Oh my god……My father is dead.

WIDE SHOT OF ROOM

Kids start to look for the same paper as 475 found out that their dad is dead

SERIES OF FAST SHOTS ON EACH PERSON’S         FILE READING THEIR PARENTS NAME AND THEIR STATUS AS DECEASED

STOPS ON 17’s PAPER AS BOTH NAMES READ ALIVE

MEDIUM SHOT ON 17

WIDE SHOT COVERING THE WHOLE ROOM

As they go through their files one kid looks up at the group in deep thought. Show the different numbers and the names of the kids to establish that those are their real names.

MEDIUM SHOT

I think…… I think we have to leave. After seeing all this, I can’t just sit here. Just look at what life could be. I know it’s scary, but trust me, this is our last choice. We’re running out of resources and are gonna die here anyways, why don’t we give the outside a chance?

The room gets very quiet and the kids start to look back down at their papers, evaluating what to do. Slowly, 28 stands up and nods her head in agreement. 15 stands up, then 5, then 475, then 13, lastly 17

FADE TO:

WIDE SHOT

Slowly the kids nod in serious agreement and get ready to leave. 17 takes a picture from their file to keep to remember their parents.

FADE TO:

HALLWAY - TRACKING IN

Kids walk into the shot in a uniform line.

CUT TO:

HALLWAY - LONG SHOT

Kids walk through the hallway in uniform line, serious looks on all their faces.

CUT TO:

INT. SUPPLY ROOM - WIDE SHOT

Kids scavenging for supplies.

POV

Almost empty shelves, having to look a lot of one can of food.Have USAG label on all cans and very plain food.

CUT TO:

Black screen with the sound of footsteps.

EXT. CAMP - WIDE SHOT

Show the vast and empty chaparal. Everything is super bright.

CUT TO:

MEDIUM SHOT OF ALL THE KIDS FACES

Kids squinting and looking out at the world.

MEDIUM SHOT 

475 looks back and stops for a moment to see the camp for the last time then turns and catches up with the rest of the group. Kids go through a hole in a fence surrounding the camp. On the the fence there’s signs that read things like HAZARD, DO NOT EXIT, DANGER

FADE IN :

LONG SHOT FROM CAMP        

As the kid catches up with the group, they start to walk towards the woods to search for better resources in the outside world.

We don’t even know where to go.

We should head towards the woods, we might find resources to help us out.

JUMP CUT : 

EXT.  FOREST (AFTERNOON) - FOLLOW SHOT

The kids are walking through the forest not knowing where to go or what to do. With confused faces they follow the group  to get more answers. CAMERA FOCUSES ON TENT, Someone notices tents as they are walking but doesn’t focus on it.

Forest - Long shot(From their backs)

The groups of kids see a group in the distance. They looked at each other for a couple of seconds in shock and then kept on walking. Then the scene cuts to the next episodes group.
