TJ’s Video Drone Program
We now have three Video Drones to incorporate into TJ video productions! What does this mean for our Center for Communication Technology Video students? You can... |
Request Aerial Footage |
Using aerial footage can take your video project from basic to “Hollywood.” Any CCT student in a Photojournalism, Radio & TV, or Senior Video Intern class can submit a request for aerial footage to use in a class project. The TJ SAVI club members will fulfill your footage request at the next scheduled flight date and connect you with your footage. |

Join the SAVI Club |
The Spartan Aerial Video Imaging (SAVI) Club is a group of Video Drone enthusiasts at heart. This group will meet when necessary during non class times (at lunch, after school, and or weekends). The group is open for any CCT student to join, and its primary function will be to fulfill aerial footage requests from TJ Photo/Video students. We will have our dji drones available for all aerial video shoots, but students with their own Video Drones are encouraged to bring and fly them as well. |

Obtain a Flight License |
Our Video Drones are not like our other TJ equipment. Students CANNOT check them out. Students may work towards obtaining a Flight License which requires the following steps... ➽ You must be a member of the SAVI Club ➽ You must pass a terminology and safety exam Study Materials (FAA Laws) (dji Mavic Pro Manual) (dji Phantom Manual) - Exam ➽ You must pass two flight tests |
Once a student has obtained a Flight License, they will be able to fly the drone during
SAVI club video shoots with teacher supervision. Occasional flights during class time may also become available.
