Initial Purpose

The initial purpose of the Ursasaurus Cup is to provide a tournament during Monday nights over the “Off-Season” on the ESL Pro Tour Circuit. There are a total of four tournaments planned. Once those are done, the Staff will discuss whether it keeps up or not. If a new ESL Pro Tour is announced during that time, depending on schedule reasons, tournaments might have changes.

Event Rules

  1. Formalities

  1. Range of validity

The validity of these rules applies to the Ursasaurus Cup, the games played on its behalf and

the places that players and casters gather in order to perform their activities.

  1. Agreement

All competitors interested in the tournament, once decided to sign up, confirm presence, and compete hereby declares that they accept the rules written in the Challonge Page and on this Rulebook.

All casters interested in providing live coverage to the tournament also acknowledge the rules stated.

  1. Terminology

  1. Expected Conduct

  1. Eligible Players

This is an open tournament. So all players without past displays of serious breaching to rules and conduct are eligible to participate.

  1. Player Conduct

  1. Competition Manipulation

Any attempt of manipulating scores known as match fixing are not permitted with no exceptions.

  1. Unsportsmanlike Behavior

It is considered UB (Sportsmanlike Behavior):

  1. Non-Compliance Cases

In case any of the referred above shows inadequate behavior, the Staff will incur with penalties such as disqualification, escalating up to full ban from the tournament.

  1. Instructions from the Admins

The Admins are the authority on the tournament matters. Their orders should always be followed.

  1. Broadcasting

  1. Authorized Casters

The tournament has a team of authorized casters allowed to join lobbies at their leisure. Any non-authorized or unidentified persons joining lobbies as Spectator are not welcome and their clearance should be questioned to the Admin.

  1. Caster Behavior

It is expected that casters show proper respect to the players they are covering their games. A player has the right to ask for the administration to not be casted by someone that offended them, after due revision from the staff.

  1. Stream Delay

No delay is enforced to the casters for this tournament.

  1. Lagging in-game

It is expected that casters do not lag in game as it can cause disruptions of the match outcome of any sort. Players have the right to report those disruptions to the Admins. In case there’s enough recurrence, the Administration reserves the right to forbid the caster from covering the remainder of the event.

  1. Logo usage

Casters must use the media assets provided by the Staff. The size of the assets should be visible and not bump into the game interface. Gigantic size logos are also not advised.

  1. Compliance to platform’s guidelines

Casters must comply with all guidelines stated by the platform they’ll be using to broadcast the event.

  1. Tournament Procedures

  1. Points of Communication

The main Point of Communication is the in-game channel, listed in section 4.3.1. Alternatively, players and casters can look for support over the Discord

  1. Tournament Procedures

  1. Sign up and match procedures

  1. Seeding

The Seeding procedure for the tournaments is the outcome of the following considerations:

  1. Punctuality and Walkover

It is expected that players are inside the in-game channel 5 minutes before the tournament starts. Once a match is set, which means players have their opponents set on the bracket, they both have to look for the veto process. In case of absence or failure to be ready in time to play, considering technical difficulties and other matters, there is a maximum of 15 minute tolerance for absence. After that time has passed, the player that is present and ready has the right to request the walkover for the Admin.

  1. Forfeit

Should the player wish to forfeit, they must contact the Administration to proceed to eliminate them. A forfeit means that you will forfeit any prize won in this tournament, in any round. Additionally, Admins might look for the forfeiter’s previous opponent to replace for the upcoming match.

  1. In-Game Specifics

  1. In-game channel

In the Americas Region, the in-game channel for the event is ursasaurus .

  1. Race

Players may choose which Race they wish to play at any time during the match. Switching races are allowed at any point, except when there’s a rematch due to a Draw or any other consequence.

Picking Random is allowed. If a rematch is appointed, the player will not choose Random but the Race that has been rolled on the previous match.

  1. Map Pool

The current map pool is:

  1. Lobby Settings

  1. Pause

Pauses can be requested. The reason should be informed. Any delay longer than 2 minutes without reasoning provided by the one that paused are eligible to be unpaused.

  1. Reporting Scores

Once the match is over and before the next one, the player should report the correct scores to the Admins. Fake results are not allowed and prone to penalties.

  1. Providing Match Media

Once requested, players should send their replays to the Admins for purposes of investigation or sharing the replaypack for content purposes.

  1. Server Choosing and Veto Process

  1. Options for deciding the Servers

We encourage mutual agreement as the first and most important option for server choosing.

Should no agreement take place, it is best advised to go for the Default Server Cross-Table option.

Default Server Cross-Table

  1. Playing from outside the Americas versus a player inside

Should players outside the Americas compete against players from inside the Americas, they will be considered being closer to the best server inside the Americas.

For example:

  1. Match between two players from the outside

Players can choose whatever servers they prefer. Within reason.

  1. Veto Process

Once servers are decided, the Veto Process should start.

The veto process is as follows:

  1. The higher seed decides who is A/B. The higher seed is the player on top of the match in the bracket.
  2. The veto/pick order depends on the match length
  1. Best-of-3: Veto ABABAB Pick AB C
  2. Best-of-5: Veto AB, Pick AB, Veto AB, Pick AB C
