1. Contact Your Swimmer’s Coach Directly And Mail All Checks to Matt Miller:

Please contact your swimmer’s lead coach for all questions.  Do not use the Schroeder team email for that reason as it causes much confusion as to who answers your question or if your question was even answered.  So feel free to email your child’s coach or talk to her/him before or after practice.

Please mail all checks to Matt Miller rather than giving them to coaches at practice.  We have not lost a check yet, but practice can get a little hectic.  You can mail them to Matt at the following address:

Matt Miller, ℅ WSAC, 9240 North Green Bay Road, Brown Deer, WI 53209

2. Timeline for Menomonee Falls Meet on May 2nd:

We’re very excited about our first meet of the long course season.  For the morning session for swimmers 9 - 12, please be at the pool at 7:15 am.  For swimmers who are 8 & Under and 13 & Over, please be at the pool at 11:20 for the afternoon session.  Good luck to all and have fun!

3. Practices This Week:

Please make sure you’re checking the schedule on a daily basis.  If practice is cancelled due to weather or other circumstance, the schedule will be updated immediately, and an email will be sent to each family.

4. Purdue Meet:

All of our entries are in and hopefully everyone has made their room

reservations.  We are looking forward to another great meet and fun

time again this year.

5. Summer Tryouts on June 3rd, at 6:00 p.m. at Cudahy Middle School Pool:

Please spread the word to friends and neighbors about our program.   Tryouts are scheduled at Cudahy Middle School for one night only, Wednesday, June 3rd at 6:00 p.m.

At the tryout, we ask the swimmers to swim across the pool, 25 yards without stopping.

Coach Bob runs a very detailed parents meeting.  Parents, if your swimmer joined mid-season, please consider attending the meeting.  You’ll find it helpful.

6. Now’s the Time to Order Custom Caps and Schroeder Wear:

See numbers 3, 6, and 7 above in the Schroeder YMCA Section for details.

7. Schroeder South Summer Schedule:

The 2015 summer schedule is now posted on the website.  It should be reasonably accurate, but should not be considered final.  Chances are there will be some adjustments made.

The reason for this is final approval of our requests have not yet been received from Cudahy, and Milwaukee County has not determined exactly when Pulaski Pool will be closed for renovation, or when Wilson Park will open.  The County also has not determined our exact afternoon time at Wilson.  We have been guaranteed a two hour block between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.  We are hoping it will again be 4:30-6:30 which is what we have requested and we have scheduled, but that could change slightly, per the County.

This has been a very challenging schedule to put together due to the following:  Pulaski Pool will be closed for the summer, there is no pool time available at Greendale, there is limited pool time at the two Cudahy pools because of  increased lesson programming caused by South Shore Y closing.

No schedule will ever make every family completely happy but we can only schedule the groups when pools are available to us.  Hopefully families will be able to arrange their schedules and carpools and make this schedule work for them.

Due to the pool availability constraints, there was some different thinking that went into this schedule compared to previous ones.  The rationale that went into the schedule follows:

S1/J1/S2/J2 Schedule:

The biggest change is the elimination of "two a day practices" for S1 & J1.  Despite this, the actual number of training hours in the pool has increased from previous summers with the addition of training days and slightly lengthening the practice times.  The main reason for the elimination of doubles were: One, the size of S1 & J1 would require somehow scheduling two AM practices back to back with a very early start (probably 6-6:30 AM) to get them both in before 10 AM; Two,  instead of reducing the hours of sleep for the swimmers with very early AM practices, one practice per day greatly increases the number of days the swimmers can "sleep in" - this fits our philosophy of more sleep = faster swimmers; Three, the times we would have had to schedule doubles would have resulted in many of our carpools driving through both AM & PM rush hours.  Considering all of these factors, I consider this schedule as good as any we have ever had, and probably our best ever.

AG1/AG2/AG3/S8/Stars Schedule

The biggest issue with these groups is not offering Greendale as a training site.  Requests were made for pool time but the pool is booked solid for the summer with Rec programs and HS summer school.  We definitely plan on resuming practices at Greendale for the fall & winter sessions.

Also, just a reminder to AG2, AG3, S8 and Star groups - there is no Schroeder Conference program in the summer session so it is important that all swimmers compete in the meets offered for their group.

Again, no schedule is ever perfect for everyone.  If you have questions or concerns regarding the schedule, contact your swimmer's coach.  As always, we will try to be as flexible as possible with individual scheduling problems
