Meeting of the Library Board of the Hamilton Public Library

  1. Village Liaison’s report nothing to report

  1. Friends of the Library report Suzanne: board is now at 8 members (by-laws allow a limit of 9). will be creating a formal vision and mission statement for the Friends, which will be presented to their board in June. Friends is supporting the ice cream social for the summer reading program kick-off at the end of June.

  1. President’s Report (new!) future meetings will include notes from the President, including topics such as: exploring what the library is for the village, for the greater community, and why people want to be on the board.

  2. Immediate vacancy: Dylan (will need to backfill opening thru July 2027)

  1. 5a-2024: Monthly payroll and village-paid expenses totaling just over $14,000. Notably, there is a large balance ($4744,79) in Monthly Vouchers for Natural Gas Utility. Lauren/Lynne
  2. 5b-2024: none this month.
  3. Finance Resolution 7, 2023-2024: The board passed a budget modification to reflect an increase of $200 in the gifts and donations budget line (revenues) and the programming budget line (expenditures), consistent with the Central New York Library Resources Council (CLRC) grant donated for eclipse programming on 4/8/24. Lauren/Jill
  4. Revenues: The board reviewed revenues accrued in March 2024, totaling $2,928.24, driven by the $2,500 from the Friends of the Library, the second half of their $5,000 commitment to funding programming for the year.
  5. Approval of Donations: the board approved donations in the amount of $200 (CLRC Eclipse grant donation) Lauren/Jill and $26.60 (cash drawer) Lauren/Jill.
  6. Action on Bills: Members of the finance committee independently audited claims in the amount of $1,568.93. This includes the usual books and supplies, the grant-sponsored eclipse materials, and an annual subscription to the Rome Sentinel.

  1. Repairs/Maintenance for the month: custodian door was repaired; entryway ceilings are still unrepaired; dimmer switch in community room needs maintenance; woodchuck nesting behind building - village is aware.

  1. Scheduled to start before May 31: landscaping maintenance
