Source #0, what started all this:

Edit: Small changes were made to protect the sources

Document:

S is for Source. S1, Source 1, S2, Source 2 etc.

C is “Calxiyn”. That’s me.

(For transparency I have edited people’s texts to cut out information at their request, or to fix typos from said person, or to fix punctuation and capitalization. This is to help people be able to read it and for clarity.

This is all ALLEGED. I do not guarantee that all of this is 100% true. But these were sources verified by me and Hunter. We know for a fact they work/worked at Rooster Teeth. Hunter, in a room alone with my phone reviewed all the direct messages, emails, or any other communication forms that were used, the “hard copies” if you will, since this is a copy without names and information. This is ALLEGED, SUPPOSED, POSSIBLE etc.

If any other RT employees would like to get in contact with me and have their statements be added to this document, please email me or contact me on Twitter. Twitter is better because I would be able to verify you easier. For some people, even four sources, the 4Chan post, the Glass Door reviews & Matt’s post about Gray stepping down as Department head all combined to show a very CLEAR picture, aren’t going to be enough

Source #1:

S1: “Gray was shitty & fired people in mass. Was a bit shocked.”

S1: “Genlock’s production caused a lot of the current issues. And Gray had stepped down for a hike after everything came to light before RTX. Things were so bad that most of animation now refuse to work on Genlock”

(Note: This person wouldn’t answer my questions, they just gave that statement)

Source #3:

C: I was wondering if you could speak with me. Former RT employees are coming out about how they were treated, mostly by Gray. Basically this post came out yesterday and other people have contacted me to verify it. I’d like to hear from you if the same kind of thing was happening while you were working. Obviously it would be anonymous but if you’re worried about answering or talking about it don’t reply, I don’t want anyone to get in some sort of trouble because of me.

S3: Gray cared about Gray. He locked himself in his office the whole time or was out galavanting in japan having fun. He'd hold company meetings weekly to brag about the fun stuff he did until he, miles and kerry got in trouble from higher up because so many people complained about it. Probably one of the worst bosses I’ve had. I didn't work on genlock thank god. I was super worried about it as Gray was in charge sounds like all my fears were merited too from what ive heard

C: The anonymous poster also mentioned Keon Wooten but I don’t know anything about them.

Like the post basically said he enabled Gray but idk who the dude is so do you know anything about that? Also thank you for responding to me : )

S3: Wooten is an asshole. Koen is the one right below Gray. head producer. He's a hollywood producer (worked for michael bay for 7 years). he gets people to do work by promising them what they want then making excuses or blaming them for not delivering

C:  Other sources are talking about how Gray prevented people from having creative control. Did you hear anything about that from any of the shows? Nomad, RWBY etc

Like that the plan was to do x, but Gray came and forced them to do y instead which was far from what they wanted to do

S3: Well the guy who created Nomad had it basically taken from him

C: How did that go down?

S3: Sadly I wasn't in 2D so i only heard it off-hand

C:  Even off-hand would be helpful :)

S3: Thats really all i know about it :(

C:  Oh I see. What about with RWBY?

S3: Gray was barely involved usually. he was too busy being a "rockstar". Koen ran it

C:  Ah okay. Did Keon do anything like that then? I guess it would be hard to know unless M&K let it be in a sense lol. Like if they lost some of their creative control with the Volume(s)

S3: Koen mostly hounded the non-writers

C: How so?

S3:  Koen was basically incharge because Gray was never there. Let's put it this way. since leaving rooster teeth, I have lost 60 pounds and am so much healthier mentally and physically

C: I asked this question to the other person, I know you already described Gray a bit and if he was never around it may be a bit difficult

S3: I didn't have to deal with him on genlock and im sure thats where his biggest ego came out

he was pretty hands off on RWBY. That was all Miles, Kerry and Koen

C: Miles and Kerry aren’t going to be exposed next are they? Lol. Please let there be someone good in there somewhere

S3: They were super nice the whole time. A little oblivious to what Koen and Gray where doing but they are young and kinda got dropped into their rolls. Really nothing to expose with them. nice guys. They really don't have any power though over employees at all. Just the story

C: Ahhhh okay.

S3: They are just the writers. No power outside that

(Standard “thank you for talking to me” stuff after this point)

Source #2:

(Lots of things have been removed from this one. Stuff I’ll probably be taking with me to the grave to be honest. So I organized this as best as I could since some of it is “miscellaneous” info, while the rest is direct answers to questions)

Email #1, S2:

S2: The reason I wanted to email you was to help validate your recent video/post around Gray Haddock.

S2: “....mostly due to the people that Mr. Haddock had hurt, including myself. He was ultimately why I quit the company”

S2: When he posted recently about parting ways it angered me, because he was trying to blend in with the very people he arguably had a hand in hurting.

S2: However there ARE good people at RT, I have so many wonderful friends there. Him leaving may incite change, but I'm worried with the powers that be, wont make changes in time and animation may get hurt in the end.

S2: I think telling the truth is important and I don't want my friends nor anyone else in the industry to get hurt by him again. If you ever have any questions I'm always happy to help clarify however I'm able.

Email #2, me responding:

C: I do have a few questions. Feel free to answer as many or as little as you can, I feel like some of this stuff would probably be confidential or something. *List of 9 questions*

(Some of the answers I can’t show you at all, period. Our source didn’t number his points like I numbered my questions, so I had to cut pieces, move them around to the appropriate question I asked etc. By the time I got this email, 2 people already confirmed that everyone who worked at Nomad, and even the people who didn’t work on Nomad like Source #3 knew that Gray basically took all creative control away from the creator and steamed roll him. We’ll talk more about Nomad later.)

Email #3, S2 & I:

C: 1) Did you hear about this happening to other shows (This being the creative control removal) as well, like RWBY for example? Like Gray forcing Miles, Kerry, whoever else to change their vision for any of the RWBY volumes or episodes?

S2: Miles and Kerry were really good dudes! They were also faces in the company so never had much push back so RWBY was fine, but the crunch and time to write was likely the cause of quality and downgrading. ( they def crunched too) Overall both of them are good people and dont have much major power like Gray had. They mostly write and direct, they stay to those roles and do their jobs well considering all the other gunk.

C: 2) In the anonymous post from yesterday they discuss gen:LOCK going super over budget. Did things need to be cut or rushed because they were blowing gen:LOCK money?

S2:  Gray supposedly took some of 2Ds money to dip into his own project THAT HE HAD FULL CONTROL ON. Some other shows were rushed.

(Source #4 talks about Nomad of Nowhere being rushed in favour of Gen:LOCK later)

C: 4) The anonymous post from yesterday mentioned Keon Wooten. Do you have any information about that? I’m not entirely sure what his role was or how he “enabled” Gray as was said.

S2:  Koen Wooten always supported the biggest person in the room and never truly fought for what was being asked, but acted like he did. If you were one on one with him he claimed he was on your side. He caused a lot of damage by doing that, and yes he enabled Gray.

C: 6) How would you describe Gray’s personality? I know other RWBYTubers have met him and are pretty shocked because he seemed pretty normal and personable. Did he ego get really big because of gen:LOCK and the names associated with it? Did he think he always knew best when it came to what to do creatively? Was he more of a ‘control freak’? I guess in short, what was his twisted rationality for doing all this to people, if there’s any inclination? Did he use his power as department head to threaten people into doing what he wanted?

C: 6a) Now looking at his twitter post, it really rubs me the wrong way that he blended in as well and that strikes me as almost a bit sociopathic. Obviously I’m not qualified for that, it’s just hyperbole, but seems so extremely manipulative it’s hard to ignore.

S2:  Grays personality is either he's completely clueless or knew exactly what he was doing and is a sociopath, it's hard to say, either way not leadership material in my opinion and never took responsibility for ANYTHING.

S2:  I think Gen:lock was something he pushed through himself and because he was the head he could make the final call to show it to burnie and Matt on his own and push it over the other 3D pitches. Gray was already using company money to make concept art and work for it, without it being greenlit. The whole thing was sketchy.

S2:  People were afraid of Gray because he was “Gray was judge, jury, and executioner”.

(This even made people afraid to go to HR. No one wanted to get fired. Eventually there was direct contact made with Matt Hullum by an employee. Reportedly, he “stormed down to animation and got everyone in a room.” I think this is important, because everyone’s giving Matt shit but Matt was the fucking good guy here, supposedly, allegedly, etc etc. He could have taken action sooner, but if people were too afraid to speak up you can’t blame him for not knowing what’s happening if no one tells him and everyone acts like things are okay. He went to correct the wrong as soon as he was aware of it, and I’m sure he was the one who got rid of Gray and forced him to step down. Because by now he would have known his shady behaviour. That’s just my OPINION.)

C: 7) Were you around for the animation team “fighting back” so to speak? Like in the anonymous post it says the Team got mad and basically put up a fight. If not, could you tell that this was going to happen? Were tensions rising?

S2: Others were disgruntled and started talking poorly about Grays role.

(It seems like the animators refusing to work on gen:LOCK happened later though judging by our sources and the sort of timeline we have.)

C: 8) Do you think things will change now without Gray and Keon? I imagine there are others enabling bad behaviour, and I see what you said about inciting change. But if they were the cause of the poor work environment now that they’re gone will that solve many problems?

S2: With Gray and Koen gone I think it may help the company however, if they still work with him like Gray implies it won't look good, also there are still plenty of "faces" that have a very toxic mentality, and supported Gray.

(We still don’t know if Koen is actually gone. We haven’t gotten confirmation for it yet)

Source #4:

C: My name is Calxiyn and I am a YouTube content creator. I’m currently investigating some of the recent claims made about Rooster Teeth, specifically a post in particular that discussed Gray Haddock’s behaviour, primarily during gen:LOCK. 3 other people verified the contents of that post and so I asked them some more questions. Obviously everyone’s identities will be kept entirely anonymous and details will be changed. If you are uncomfortable with this message for any reason or do not wish to communicate in fear of burning bridges etc, please do not reply. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble and I don’t want anyone to have to worry about that on top of what they are already going through. I am just looking for the truth, and I hope if people have been mistreated they will break their silence soon

S4: I don’t know what post you’re referring to, and in all honesty, I’m not the best person to talk to about this. My interaction with Gray was very limited. I wasn’t working under Gray directly

*Showed him the post, aka, the 4Chan post source 0*

S4: I can confirm that post. I can also say that Gray’s prioritization of gen:Lock is partly responsible for how Nomad of Nowhere ended up.

C:  Can you expand on that a bit, like what went down with Nomad? Someone else (Source #3) told me “The guy who created Nomad had it basically taken from him” but they weren’t in the 2D department so they only heard the whispers

S4: gen:Lock and Nomad were greenlit around the same time, but Gray put more time, budget, and resources for preproduction on gen:Lock. Nomad as a result was pushed up in the schedule, only had two months of preproduction before animation had to start. The creator of Nomad wasn’t offered a lead position and was barely consulted on the story or art. That’s all I’m willing to say about that. This is something that almost anyone in the animation department can tell you. I don’t want to talk about Nomad as everything that went into that is way more complicated and there’s no way I have the full story as it feels like all the incompetency that led to the 2D department having to crunch back to back that year goes further and further up.

S4: There’s actually an episode of Off Topic where Geoff jokingly likens Gray to a slave driver when talking about the animation department. Little did he know how apt that comparison actually was.

C: Oh geez. I haven’t watched the recent Off Topic cause I feel like seeing Geoff cry is gonna make me cry but dang, the way it all comes back together. That’s crazy

S4: You should be able to find the podcast to. It was when animation was still in the same area as the rest of the company. Gray walks onto the podcast set that episode and everything

(I looked for the podcast. I couldn’t find it. But I don’t watch Off Topic so I’m sure an Off Topic fan can find it)

Here’s the final thing I want to say. I love Rooster Teeth. This isn’t a hit piece on them. I am a big fan, and I wanted to know what the truth was, so I took the initiative and went to go find it myself. I hope this encourages other people to be active, participate. Go searching for it. Share this video, encourage other RWBYTubers, MurderOfBirds, EruptionFang, Unicorn of War to make their own videos. I don’t want it to be known in order to trash Rooster Teeth, I want it to be known because if this is true, allegedly, supposedly, possibly, Gray shouldn’t be in charge of people, possibly ever again. Or at the very least, not until he shows some intense personal growth and realizes how he treated people was abhorrent. I don’t believe in cancel culture. People can change in grow, but I’m going to have to see it with my own eyes. And so I just hope his future employers find out how he treated the people who were under him.

But I also hope this shows people there ARE good people. Matt, Miles, Kerry. There are still good people at RT and we should all support them. I was honestly so surprised at how Matt took action in the anecdote. I hope this encourages other people to speak up as well, and I’m always available to be contacted
