Community Link is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace and to promoting the health and wellbeing of its employees. As required by the Dee Johnson Clean Indoor Air Act and also motivated by our desire to provide a healthy work environment for our employees, the following smoking policy has been adopted and shall apply to all individuals associated with Community Link.
It is the policy of Community Link to prohibit smoking on all company premises in order to provide and maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all people. The law defines smoking as the "act of lighting, smoking or carrying a lighted or smoldering cigar, cigarette or pipe of any kind." Community Link also includes eCigarettes in this policy.
State law requires businesses not to create situations where people must pass through smoke to enter or exit a building. It prohibits smoking within a “reasonable distance” of doorways, windows that open, and ventilation system intakes so that tobacco smoke from outdoor smokers on a business property will not infiltrate the interior spaces of establishments.
Cigarette butts will be placed in a sand filled can and must be totally extinguished before being disposed of in a trash can or dumpster.
This policy will become effective on Monday, January 9, 2017.
