Job Title: Administrative Assistant

Position Pay: $18 per hour

About Black to the Land Coalition:

Black to the Land Coalition is a grassroots organization dedicated to supporting Black and Brown communities in reconnecting with nature. Our mission is to create spaces and opportunities for these communities to engage with the outdoors, fostering a deeper connection to the land and promoting environmental stewardship.

Position Overview:

The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Black to the Land Coalition by assisting the Executive Team with administrative tasks, organizational projects, meeting coordination, fundraising support, website updates, and other operational needs. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, eager to learn, and shares a commitment to our mission of connecting Black and Brown communities to nature. Experience with nonprofit organizations or administrative tools is a plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support

  • Support the Executive Team with administrative tasks and day-to-day organizational needs, including board management.
  • Assist with the organization's website migration (Wix to Squarespace) alongside & with the guidance/support of the Executive Team.
  • Research information, resources, and technology tools as requested.
  • Provide administrative support to the Program Assistant as needed.
  • Assist the Executive Team/Fundraising Committee with funding opportunities.
  • Help maintain organized records, documents, and other administrative materials.
  • Tabling at events with other Black to the Land Board or volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Strong respect for nature and a commitment to environmental justice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, particularly Black and Brown communities.
  • Ability to manage tasks, stay organized, and work independently with guidance when needed.
  • Comfortable learning new technology platforms and online tools.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience with Canva, website platforms (Wix, Squarespace), or nonprofit work is a plus, but not required.

Hours and Compensation:

  • This is a part-time position with no benefits.
  • Expected hours: 15-20 hours per week.
  • Compensation: $18/hr


**This is a temporary part-time position expected to run for approximately 6-months, with the possibility of extension based on organizational funding.
