LOCATION: Recordings will take place in person in the studio in London in November 2024 (preferred), or you can submit recordings digitally using your own setup.
COMPENSATION: All named roles are paid—exact amounts are listed with each role below and are based on the number of words / lines each character has in the final production. Payments will come from a US bank account, so GBP amounts will be determined by exchange rates on payment date.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Auditions will be open until October 15th, or until each role is filled.
KEY DATES: If cast, all audio recordings must be completed by the end of November 2024.
SHOW DESCRIPTION: After his sister’s betrayal forced him into exile, Lord Valentin Tellari must now face the deadly ocean that rages against the Drumming Isles. But neither storms nor leviathans will smother the vengeful fire that burns within Valentin. He will not know rest until he has reclaimed what is rightfully his.

ROWAN

Rowan is the Tellaris’ Valet. A silver-tongued social chameleon, master of accents and subterfuge, who can talk his way out of any situation. Pragmatic, clever and good-hearted, he is an exceptional storyteller, if sometimes needlessly verbose. A few years ago he survived a plague that left him with a limp and he now walks with a cane. Because of this he is often overlooked and not considered a threat, which he makes sure to use to his advantage.
Lines:
- Ah, just the one I was looking for - How are you Isabelle? You look resplendent, and your cooking smells wonderful! (Then immediately dropping the act to ask what he really wants to know:) Have you spoken to the coachman?
- I was born here, by the docks. Father’s from the city, but my ma came with the first wave, right when the blood vine started spreading.
- (Telling the beginning of a tale:) For years and years no siren song was heard across the tide. No clashing of swords between the knights of salt, no new tale of the pale jesters’ tricks… No joust, no feast and no joyful excess echoed through the currents. All of the Pale Mistress’ subjects had deserted the sea. Summoned to her palace they had been. Called to marvel and adore their new princess.
KNOXWELL

A devout priestess of Akshar, War-God of the isles. Knoxwell was raised in a temple to become a weapon of the empire. A soldier and monster hunter. Blunt, provocative and violent, but not without honor. She is eager to be tested by the sea and revels in being a thorn in peoples’ side.

- Your lips are as thin and wretched as your soul. A pair of seaworms you bear above an inbred chin -- flapping about to the endless stream of shit you call thoughts.

LIEUTENANT BAINES

Mara Sibi’s Lieutenant: Baines volunteered as a teenager to risk his life at sea. An imposing soldier who ruthlessly clawed his way out of the army’s low ranks. He obtained a blessing from Akshar the War-God many years ago. Decades of sailing and fighting have long scraped any joy and kindness from his soul. A cruel, hungry creature, his behavior closer to shark than man.

- Ah, I know what I should teach you. You can already fight, but do you know how to beg? You live and die by my hand, so if I tell you to kneel, front to the ground, what do you say…?

EDMAR OCCELI

Valentin and Tanathea’s uncle. An opportunist who seeks to claim his niece and nephew’s fortune for himself. A man of ambition, to whom everything has always been handed to, yet lacking in ways he could never understand. He’s ruled poorly over his family’s estate for the past few years, battling the advance of a devastating pest. His luck seems to be turning recently, since meeting his new wife: the Levian Nerea Occeli.

- Could not a single tear of my sister’s grace get through your muddled blood?
- Someone must collect our due from these villagers. Tell your shadow to make her preparations.
- No need to apologize. Even the best breeds need training.

NEREA OCCELI

When she was a child Nerea was sold to a hunting ship by her parents. It was thought she would be nothing more but cannon fodder, but she defied all odds and by a strange twist of fate, obtained the War-God’s blessing. She is now a saint, 16 years of age and the strength of a leviathan coursing through her veins. She has recently returned to the isles after years at sea and already found a husband, she seeks only to rest after everything she endured.

- I was sold to a feeder ship when I was ten and four. I am the youngest of five, the only girl, my parents had no need for me.
- My Lady! I thought- since my husband deprived you of a friend - how would you like a new one? I’d love to be shown around the manor.
- I have been granted great strength. And even greater hunger, to sustain it. It is hard to satisfy, on land.

TANNAN

A jovial coach who drove Edmar and Nerea Occeli to the Tellaris’ domaine. Homesick and unhappy in the city, he’ll be an easy target to obtain gossip from.
Lines:
- Ah, nothing blooms in those parts anymore. Blood vine’s taken over, soil’s barren, trees strangled, birds are gone and so are the rivers. No one came to help.
- The horse’s name is Melon! He’s a gentle one in the field, not much in the city. But he’s not meant to be here.
- He put together a hunting party but all we had were farmers. Anyone who could hold a weapon had already been sent to fight.

JULIETTE LOCKRIDGE

Captain Juliette Lockridge has become the most prolific pirate of the Wounded Sea. Eerily calm and soft-spoken, as others have learned to keep silent when she speaks. She has a strange sense of humor, wields a weapon that should have driven her mad, and will stop at nothing to preserve her freedom.

THE PALE MISTRESS

Goddess of Salt, Strife, and Excess, one of the seven divinities of the isles. Also known as the Lady of Cunning. A prideful, mischievous being, shallow and capricious, matron of all things beautiful. She seeks to be entertained above all else, even at the expense of her chosen champions. No sailor or adventurers has heard her voice in their ears for almost a century, though this is now about to change.

LUNACY

Midnight Bane, Silver Rage, Lunacy… The echoes of this old, forgotten god have many names across the isles. He whispers to those most vulnerable, promising them power and freedom if they do his bidding. Alluring but paranoïd, he has driven thousands to madness across the years, waiting for a champion that will restore his power.

- They seek the flame, forever lost. They seek the light, forever gone…
- Beliefs are shaped in blood… remembered in flesh… Gouge the eyes of a man who refuses to see. Only then can he learn.

AUGUSTUS TELLARI

Father of Valentin and Tanathea, a genius of a tailor, who climbed his way out of the poor neighborhood by the shore up to the most high circles of the court. Cunning, calculated, demanding and never-satisfied, most notably towards his children.

ALLIRA TELLARI

Mother of Valentin and Tanathea. Born a noblewoman, who could have been kind had she not been sold off to marry a rich man with no title, who would pay for her parents’ debts. A master of the cutting word, vicious and bitter, more and more so each year. Her temper worsened along with a strange illness that slowly drove her to insanity.
