[1] Constantine I of Greece, King of the Hellenes (1868-1923). Major George M. Mélas was a friend of King Constantine’s since childhood and worked as his secretary. The two clashed on foreign policy issues with Mélas leaving Constantine’s service to join the Venizelist camp in 1915. See George M.
