This work is probably a sketch for a three-quarter-length portrait of the sitter wearing a white riding jacket and boater-hat [7542]. De László also painted another three-quarter-length portrait of Henriette van Tuyll [7544] that was destroyed by a V2 rocket in 1944, which fell on the family home, Reigersbergen in Wassenaar, near The Hague. All three portraits were painted in 1904.
