LOCKINGE HOUSE,
WANTAGE,
BERKS.
July 15th, 1918.
Dear Mrs. de Laszlo,
It is a long time since I have heard anything of you. Owing to my Carlton Gardens house having been commandeered by the War Office, I have not been in London at all this summer and have, therefore, seen nothing of my friends. But my thoughts are often with you and Mr. de Laszlo and I should much like to have some news of you. I fear it must be a very dreary and wearisome summer for him; and ones [sic] hopes of the War coming to a conclusion alas! far distant.
May I ask you kindly to remember me to your husband? I hear a rumour (which I trust is true) that he is employing his leisure by writing his memoirs. They would be deeply interesting, for he has had such unique experiences of many countries and many people, and has a happy talent for conveying vivid impressions of all he has seen and heard.

I hope your boys are prospering. I imagine they must be all at school by now.
With kind regards, | Yours very sincerely,
H Wantage
