JURY DUTY
The board encourages district employees to participate constructively in community activities which have the improvement of the general welfare of the community, state and nation as their objectives.
Hood River County School District employees are subject to jury duty and answering subpoenas the same as other citizens. Any employee of the district who is required to serve on jury duty, or who is subpoenaed, shall receive the regular salary during the time when officially attending to such legal matters.
The employee shall endorse and turn over to the district the compensation as a jurist or subpoenaed witness, less traveling allowance, unless a decision is made to keep the compensation and take leave from school duties without pay.
When, in the judgment of the administration and with approval of the employee, absence from the position may cause hardship to the students or the school system, a request for exemption may be made to the responsible officials.
