Fairy Garden Contest.  Design a fairy garden to be displayed at the library.  The community will vote on the Fairy Gardens and the one with the most votes will win a prize!  The date to bring in your garden is: Monday, May 15 between 10 am and 5 pm.  Be creative and have fun!

Honor a Vet and Feed the Hungry:  Patrons can bring in a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.  In return, they will be given a star they may write the name of a vet on to honor this person for their service to our country.

Mon. 5/1: Macedon Senior Luncheon  Noon

Mon. 5/1: Amish Influence  1 pm  Laurie Pellittieri will give an informative presentation about the Amish culture, their beliefs, their work and how they set themselves apart from worldly ways

Mon. 5/1: Library Challenge Basket Drawing  2 pm  All the patrons who have been diligently reading and earning raffle tickets are going to finally find out who has won the basket of goodies!  

Tues. 5/2: Little Bits Club  3:30 pm Work together to solve challenges and invent new Little Bits powered contraptions!  Must have letter of permission to be released from school to the library.

Weds. 5/3: Movie & Activity  3 pm  Watch a family friendly movie and do a fun activity at the library.  Public and homeschooled children are welcome to attend.

Thurs. 5/4: Mahjong 2 pm  A group for beginning to advanced Mahjong players.  Play an ancient game of skill, strategy and luck.

Thurs. 5/4: May the Fourth Be With You  4 pm: Watch the most recent Lucasfilm flick at the library.

Thurs. 5/4: Silk Scarves with Julia  6:30 pm   Make mom a gorgeous silk scarf for Mother’s Day!  Dye a circular silk scarf, using acid dyes and vinegar, in a microwave steaming process.  Everyone’s scarf will be unique, as the colors and blend them yourself.  Registration is required as class is limited to 10 individuals, teen through adult. There is a $7 supply fee payable at the event.

Fri. 5/5: Teen Time 3 pm  for ages 13 and up.  Meet with other teens and decide on something fun to do.  Choose from such activities as: videogaming, crafting, snacking, playing card games or just hanging out.  

Mon. 5/8: Movie, Pizza & a Little History  5 pm  Enjoy pizza and pop while watching a movie about women who worked diligently behind the scenes to lead to John Glenn being able to orbit the earth.  Find out about other prominent women in science in a discussion with Dr. Brian Koberlein to follow the screening. The movie is rated PG.

Tues. 5/9: Custom Scent for Mom  6 pm  Create a signature scent for mom to enjoy using essential oil under the guidance of Shelly Conboy.  There will be materials fee of $9.  Registration is required.perfume bottles.jpg

Weds. 5/10: 1 pm  Iris Folding  1 pm  Paper crafters may want to join this group to learn how to use a special folding technique to make beautiful homemade cards.  Bring pretty paper, glue, scissors and cardstock.

Weds. 5/10  Movie & Activity 3 pm  Watch a family friendly movie and do a fun activity at the library.  Public and homeschooled children are welcome to attend.

Weds. 5/10: 7 pm  Entrepreneur Workshop #1

Thurs. 5/11: Memory Lane  2 pm  This is a program targeted at those with dementia.  Participants are encouraged to reminisce through the use of a variety of props.  Participants may also choose to bring in their own special items to share with others.  While the participants are engaged in the program, caregivers may use the time to browse the library and and to socialize with other caregivers.  New members always welcome!

Thurs. 5/11: Genealogy Night  6:30 pm  Share your genealogical adventures with other enthusiasts.  Ask genealogy buff and staff member Patricia Stevens-Brate questions to receive helpful advice and tips.  Use the library’s free access to Ancestry.com to browse for family records.  Bring your own device and use our wifi to search, or use one of the library’s computers with high speed Internet for speedy results.

Sat. 5/13:  Puppy Tales 2 pm Your struggling reader may enjoy sharing a story with a non-judgmental listener.  Or your advanced reader may just want to share stories with a furry friend.  All ages are invited to read to our therapy dogs.  No registration required, just drop-in!

Mon. 5/15:  Bring in your fairy garden for display and judging!   10-5 pm   Voting on the gardens will run from Tuesday, May 16 through May 29 at midnight.  

Tues. 5/16:  Where Do Parents Come From?  6 pm  Visit with the author of this hilarious collection of stories that helped to transform her into the mom she became.  Copies of this brief, giggle-filled short story collection are available at the library.

Adult Thurs. 5/18: 1 pm:  Friends of Macedon Public Library Meeting  Join the group dedicated to supporting the library’s programming through the sale of gently used books each spring and fall.  New members with new ideas and a willingness to help out always appreciated.

Fri. 5/19: 10 am  Lunch & Learn with Ingram (for librarians and library support staff)  Participants will learn about this book vendor and explore the online ordering site called “i-page.”  Those already using i-page are also welcome to attend since they may have questions about advanced features to ask.  A complimentary lunch consisting of a sandwich, chips, cookie and beverage will be served.  There is no fee to attend.  Call the library at 986-5932 to register.

Sat. 5/20: Wayne Writer’s Guild Play Readings 3:30-5 pm  Enjoy listening to ten, brief two character plays being read aloud.  Light refreshments will be served.

Mon. 5/22: 1-6 pm: American Red Cross Blood Drive

Mon. 5/22 6:30 pm: Library Board Meeting  The library board welcomes members of the public.  Attend a meeting and consider applying to become a trustee.  Trustees guide the policies of the library and strive to make the library a fiscally sustainable, nonprofit organization able to serve the needs of the community.

Tues. 5/23: Eternal Remembrance Poppies 4 pm  Learn how to make a poppy with LED lights inside to honor the veterans who have sacrificed for our freedom.  Registration is appreciated.  No fee.

Weds. 5/24: Honoring Local War Veteran, General Bullis  2pm  Join Macedon Town Historian June Hamell for a presentation about the heroic exploits of local veteran, General Bullis.

Tues. 5/30: Noon: The winner of the Fairy Garden contest will be announced.

Tues 5/30: Mothers, Women, Soldiers & War Kahoot!  6 pm  Bring your thinking cap and a charged up smartphone to play this fast-paced trivia game.  Participants will be given a brief amount of time to answer multiple choice trivia questions on topics related to mothers, women, soldiers and war to earn points.  All participants answer at the same time by using their smartphones.  Those who answer correctly the fastest will be rewarded the most points.  A gift card will be awarded to the person earning the top number of points.  Register by calling the library at 315-986-5932.
