Eagles families- Veterans Memorial campus remains closed to the public for the summer. The registrar’s office will be on Remote Summer Hours in order to process Transcripts and V.O.E. (Verification of Enrollment) forms, ONLY on Wednesdays.

Class of 2021 Senior Pictures- This year will be different for Senior Pictures. We will be asking our Seniors to come for the summer pictures in “Business Dress or Sunday’s best”. We want to adhere to the safety of our students by not sharing the Tuxedo or drapes for pictures. There will be a limit of students on campus that can be photographed at a time and we will maintain the strict 6ft social distancing. Strawbridge studio will be disinfecting all equipment used after each student and will have the standard mask and gloves. Cap and Gown Pictures will be scheduled during the school year.

The dates for Senior Pictures will be July 13-18, 2020 at Veterans Memorial Cafeteria.

SUMMER LUNCH- Summer lunch service will continue through July 10th on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful weekend.

In an effort to keep our tradition alive, on Wednesday from 4-6 PM, we will be hosting a drive-thru "Ringing of the Bell" ceremony for our Senior students. CLASS OF 2020 FINAL.png. Campus administration will "ring the bell" for each senior as they drive thru and receive their senior gift. For logistical purposes, we have broken up the ceremony into two one hour blocks based on last name. We kindly ask that all participants remain in their vehicles at all times for the safety of our staff and students. We look forward to seeing our seniors again!
We have also fielded some questions regarding graduation cords, stoles, etc. We are working with our various vendors to order cords for each of our organizations and, like many other industries at this time, are facing some delayed production and shipping delays. At this time, we plan on distributing cords to each senior during graduation rehearsal, however, if we have received all of them beforehand, we will look at a drive-thru pickup. We appreciate your continued patience during this time as we recognize the hard work your child(ren) has put in to earn their cords.
According to CCISD grading guidelines, we have finalized class rank and permanent honor roll. If your child(ren) has qualified for permanent honor roll (95+ average) please have them check their Canvas page for the Eagle Hall of Honor application. Our committee has been hard at work developing a digital application process in order to continue this tradition.
At this time, we do not have finalized information regarding graduation dates and formats. We have had continued discussion with district level officials and will update our Eagle community once more detailed information becomes available. Thank you again for your patience during this process, as I know everyone is eager to make graduation arrangements.
This week, we will also celebrate national Teacher Appreciation Week. We thank all of our teachers for their continued hard work and dedication to our campus, especially during the COVID-19 event. We have an amazing group of teachers who continue to do "whatever it takes" to get the job done.

Del Mar has updated its registration form to make it easy to access from the Del Mar College website. Students and Parents can now use this fillable form, completing their information, listing their desired classes and even typing their name in the signature box.Students and parents will then need to email the completed form to their counselor. The Dual Credit Office will ONLY process and send registration forms received FROM Counselors.

Good afternoon Eagles,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday. Today, I had the opportunity to meet with my "Principal's Advisory Team" which is composed of student leaders representing all components of campus life. In our meeting, I was able to get some excellent feedback on our transition to distance learning and address and questions or concerns.It was great to "see" some students again. I also wanted to provide you with a few updates for this week:

Offline Learners - Paper packets

The second, and final, round of paper packets were delivered to our central office earlier this afternoon for mailing over the next couple of days. If you are a "offline" learner, be on the lookout in your mailbox later this week or early next week for your packet.

Distance Learning clarification.

Students essentially have two methods of instructional delivery: 1) Online or 2) Offline. Students that chose "email" as their preferred method of instructional delivery were emailed a copy of the paper packet and will work on the packet as an "offline" learner. Teachers will continue to provide feedback and support over the phone or via email. Offline learners are encouraged to continue to take pictures of their completed work and email them to their respective teacher for feedback and support.
The second packet will include all core content areas as well as elective courses. Our teachers are also working on creating supplemental lessons to better help support some specific courses that may not be found in the packet. Offline students can access those assignments via google folder link that will be sent out at the beginning of next week.

Good afternoon Eagles,

I hope this email finds everyone safe and healthy. We are finishing up the final details of the second and final round of packet distribution logistics. If your student is on our list to receive a paper packet, it will be mailed to their home address on file rather than an in-person pickup. This packet will contain enough content for the remainder of the school in the event that our school closure is extended further and will include lessons for elective courses as well. Our goal is to have those in the mail by the middle of next week.

We have also been fielding quite a few questions regarding Senior events, graduation, etc. The district has secured additional graduation dates in the event that we cannot have graduation on the regularly scheduled dates at the end of May. We are also working with campus and district administration regarding special events, cords, permanent honor roll, etc. I will get more details on these events tomorrow in my daily principals meeting and will be sure to share any decisions that are made. I appreciate your patience as these decisions are made and I will continue to advocate for our students, especially our seniors during this time.

Good evening Eagles,

I hope everyone had a great first "official" week of distance learning. Our staff has been hard at work preparing lessons, providing feedback and making both parent and student contacts. Open lines of communication throughout this process will not only benefit our parents and staff but our students as well. We sincerely appreciate the support from our entire community as we make this transition.

We are preparing for our second round of packet distribution, as our packet students have lesson material through the end of next week. As parents and students are becoming more comfortable with instruction via Canvas, we have had multiple parents and students reach out and let us know that they prefer Canvas as their preferred method of instruction. If your child(ren) would prefer to interact with Canvas (online) rather than packet (paper based) instruction, please reply to this email with your child's name and ID# and I will make the adjustment on our master list.

Good evening Eagles,

Earlier this morning, CCISD released the "Phase 1" of the grading guidelines for the 5th six weeks (see attachment) COVID_5thMP_grading_parent_letter.pdf . As you may be aware the 5th six weeks ends tomorrow, April 3rd. All high school students in the district will be graded with a "Pass" or "Incomplete" rather than a numerical grade. To determine grades, teachers will be looking at the entire "profile" of student work both before the school closure as well as during this week of distance learning. If a student does receive an "incomplete", they will have until April 24th to work with their respective teacher on remediation intervention. The "Phase 1" of the grading guidelines only applies to the 5th six week grading period as a "Phase 2" grading guidelines is currently in development and will be released upon completion.

We have had some questions regarding both online and packet based instruction.

1) Online Instruction: Each Canvas course may look a bit differently. We are working with our teachers to be as consistent as possible in "how" we deliver instruction. Some teachers are taking a curriculum unit and breaking it into smaller more manageable pieces while some are delivering the unit at once with a "due date" on Sunday. I encourage you or to reach out to your child's teacher with specific questions regarding coursework. We will continue to work hard to "iron-out" any concerns that may arise.

2) Packet based instruction: Students who are working on the paper based packet are encouraged to take pictures of their completed work and to send it to their respective teacher via email. Teachers will also be reaching out to paper based students via phone. Either of these methods will allow teachers to provide feedback and monitor student progress.

Good evening Eagles!

If you are not aware, the statewide school closure has been extended until at least May 4th and per the Governor's office. I know this is disappointing, but the safety of our students, staff, faculty and parents will always remain a top priority. This extended closure also means that we will continue our distance learning instruction for an additional three weeks. I will send out more information regarding additional packet resources throughout the week. If you are working online, many of our teachers are "chunking" their normal lessons into smaller pieces so as to not overwhelm our students. Students can work on these "chunks'' at their leisure throughout the week. Also, a reminder to those students who are working on packets, to take a picture of your completed work and email it to your respective core content teacher. This will continue to allow all of our students to receive feedback on their work and allow our teachers to monitor their individual progress. Hope everyone has a great evening!

For those students who are working on the paper packets: You can expect your core teachers (Math, Science, Social Studies, English) to reach out to you throughout the week. They will be checking in with you, answering any questions and providing any support you may need on the paper packet assignments. The paper packet assignments will take students through April 10th. Once you have completed an assignment from the packet, please take a picture of the assignment and send it to the respective teacher via email. We want our students to receive feedback on their work no matter what instructional delivery method they chose.

Good evening Eagles!

As we embark on another week of distance learning instruction, I wanted to provide our parents and students a copy of our online learning schedule we will operate by. The picture below will outline two "blocks" of time that have been dedicated to each department throughout the week. During these blocks of time, teachers in the respective department may conduct virtual learning opportunities and host office hours to help provide support for our students. This schedule was created to ensure that all of our online students have an equal opportunity to engage in online lessons and activities. In addition, students who are working offline (paper packet) will be contacted throughout the week by their teachers to check-in and answer any questions our students may have. We are continuing to work hard to establish our systems to engage our students in the curriculum, and we appreciate your flexibility and patience during this process. As always, if you or your child have any specific questions, please feel free to contact your child's teacher at any time.

The link below will remain in all daily announcement emails as this document will be "live" in nature. As we continue to receive content from our teachers, we will add the content to the respective folders. The assignments you find in these folders were created by VMHS teachers and are being provided to all of our VM families/students as an opportunity to enhance and enrich their online coursework or instructional packets. All of our core content areas are included as well as CTE, LOTE, Fine Arts, PE and Special Education. Good afternoon,

We will be expediting the paper packet pickup due to the potential for a shelter in place declaration in Nueces County.

For those students who chose option #3 (paper packet pickup) for their child's instructional delivery during the extended school closure, we will distribute today between 4-6 PM. If we are ready to distribute earlier, we will notify you on social media.

We will utilize a "drive up" procedure to comply with CDC recommendations during this process. Pickup will be in the front of the building at the Cimmaron entrance.

***Only students who chose the packet pickup option need to pick up a packet during this time frame, as we have a limited number of copies.

Option 1: Online learning - Students can currently access and work on online material via Canvas. Please email teachers with any questions.

Option 2: Email Packet - Upon completion of all packets, I will place the links to the offline material via daily announcement email (this message). Parents will be able to click on the folder, locate their child's courses and access the material. This folder will be a "live" document so we can add more content as it becomes available. Our goal is to have this link attached to Thursday's announcement email

Good morning Eagles,

At around 11:30 or so, I will go on Facebook Live to discuss our objective over the next 24 hours. You can expect to receive a phone call from your child's third period teacher to determine which method of instructional delivery your child prefers. You will have three options to choose: 1) Online format via Canvas, google classroom etc. 2) Digital packet emailed for you to print and complete at home or 3) Hard copy packet made printed and made available for pickup at campus.

You may see a call from a "restricted" number or a number you do not recognize (teachers will be making these calls remotely). Please make an effort to take this call from your child's teacher. Teachers will document the responses and forward them to our district curriculum and instruction team for further guidance.

At this time, the district will not be handing out technology devices such as laptops or wifi hotspots.

Thank you again to all of our Eagle community for your flexibility as we work to provide your child with the best possible instruction during this extended school closure.

A Moment in Black History

First Lawyer: John Mercer Langston was the first black man to become a lawyer when he passed the bar in Ohio in 1854. When he was elected to the post of Town Clerk for Brown-helm, Ohio, in 1855 Langston became one of the first African Americans ever elected to public office in America. John Mercer Langston was also the great-uncle of Langston Hughes, famed poet of the Harlem Renaissance.

Welcome to NHHS Black History Month Moment: Heavyweight Champ: Jack Johnson became the first African American man to hold the World Heavyweight Champion boxing title in 1908. He held onto the belt until 1915. This has been a moment in Black History

Eagle Wrestlers competed this past weekend at the UIL Region IV Wrestling Championships in Austin. Kya Battle and Josef Davis are Regional Champions, Roman Corona became a 2X Regional Champion, and Natalie Villegas became a 3X Regional Champion. Mark Libiran placed 3rd, Leandra Leal, and Autumn Alvarez finished 4th. All 7 will be wrestling in the UIL State Championships next weekend in Houston.

UIL Academics attended the Flour Bluff Invitational Meet this past weekend. This was a huge meet with about 30 schools in attendance. Congratulations to our Science Team for taking 1st Place, and to our Calculator Team for placing 2nd! Special shout outs to the following students who placed individually:

On Saturday, the Screaming Eagle Band traveled to Texas A&M University Kingsville to compete at the UIL Region 14 Solo & Ensemble Contest. We are excited to announce that 75 of our students brought home 103 1st division medals. They earned 1st division medals on 26 solos and 19 ensembles. 63 of those students will travel to UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Austin on June 1, 2020. On Saturday, the Guitar Department competed in the UIL Solo & Ensemble competition at TAMU Kingsville. 38 out of 40 performances earned a Superior rating which resulted in 82 students receiving 1st Division medals. 3 Soloists, a Quartet and a Trio have advanced to the state level of competition at UT Austin in June. Please congratulate our Veterans Guitarists for making this the most successful year to date for the Guitar Dept.

NAACP: On February 12, 2019, the NAACP marked its 110th anniversary. Spurred by growing racial violence in the early 20th century, and particularly by 1908 race riots in Springfield, Illinois, a group of African American leaders joined together to form a new permanent civil rights organization, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). February 12, 1909, was chosen because it was the centennial anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.

12 Eagles qualified for the Region IV Wrestling Championships in Austin next weekend. 6 District Champions Kya Battle 128, Natalie Villegas 185, Mark Libiran 106, Roman Corona 145, Josef Davis 160, Adrian Rivera 182. Two won silver medals Leandra Leal 119, and Autumn Alvarez 138. The other Regional qualifiers are Alexandria Martinez 102, Julianna Sosa 148, Daniel Vela 170, and Andy Rivera 285. Congratulations Wrestlers!

Science Olympiad Team will be having their Regional Competition in one Month, March 7th at TAMUCC. Please come by and see Mrs. Medrano if you are interested in participating, or competing in events such as Geologic Mapping or building a Gravity Vehicle or Machines. We need team members for our competition and would love to have Robotics, Engineering, and Science Saavy students on our team. Please come by and see Mrs. Medrano as soon as possible to get information.

Science Olympiad members please pay your dues by this Friday so that shirts for competition can be ordered and come by to get your study materials and parent permission papers. You can pay your dues on the webstore.

If you are interested in applying for the Sister-City Student Summer Exchange program to France, Taiwan or Japan, please see counselor, Ms. Garza, in office B208 for more information by February 7, 2020.

Deadline to apply for the summer’s exchange is on February 15, 2020.

Any current sophomores through seniors are invited to take the ASVAB test on February 11, 2020. This test is required for students interested in joining the military OR can be used as a great career exploration tool for ANY student. The ASVAB is free of charge, and you can sign up on the College Events section of the College Center Website or in person at the College Center.

Reminder for all FCCLA students who did not make the meeting this morning. There will be an FCCLA meeting today after school at 4:10-4:20 in Room D208. Please don’t be late.

The District 15-5A Wrestling Championship finals will take place tonight at Ray HS. Parade of Champions starts at 6pm with Finals matches for both girls and boys starting at 6:30pm. Come out and support your Eagle wrestlers as they fight for District Championships. Thank you for your support and we will see you there.

The football boosters are purging their inventory and will be selling shirts at a discounted price. They are calling it Fire Friday...all shirts on hand will be $10. Congratulations to Eagle Wrestlers! The Boys defeated Carroll 48-30 and Miller 42-12. The girls beat Carroll 36-6 and Miller 33-0. Come out and support your Eagles in our own Top Gun Invitational Tournament JV will wrestle Friday after school in the main gym. The Varsity will wrestle Saturday beginning at 8:30am. UIL Academics kicked off the spring competition season at the GP Invitational Meet on Saturday, January 18. Congratulations to the Science Team and Journalism Team for taking 1st place, as well as Benjamin Martinez for placing as the top Physics Student and Gabriela Yeackle as the top Literary Criticism student! Veterans took home a 3rd place win in the large school division. Our Computer Science and Calculator Teams also took 3rd place. It was an outstanding weekend for our Lucky 7 VMHS Speech and Debate Eagles who took on the Tuloso Midway TFA/NIETOC Tournament on Saturday. Every single squad member made finals! Yumi Salinas and Eduardo Martinez were the DUET ACTING CHAMPIONS and got their second bid for NIETOC NATS! Out of 22 schools competing, our squad of 7 took home 8th Place overall! Please congratulate these hard working Eagles when you see them!

On Saturday, 14 of our choir students auditioned for a spot in the highly competitive Texas Music Educator Association All- State Choir.

This past Saturday we took 27 band students to the TMEA Region 14 Band Auditions in Alice. We had 16 students make a region band. They will travel to Laredo on Friday to rehearse and perform in the Region Concert this Saturday at the United ISD Student Activity Center in Laredo at 4:30pm. Four of those students are advancing to the Area Auditions of January 12 @ TAMUCC where they will audition for a spot in the All-State Band. Congratulations to Luis Guerrero who placed 4th in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle in the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Swim meet held in San Antonio this past weekend. The meet was combined 6A and 5A schools and Luis represented VMHS well. Matthew Schawe also finaled in the 200 and 100 yard breastroke as a junior so VMHS will have him back another season.

You are invited to an entertaining evening of ASL performances on Monday, December 9th at 6:30 in our auditorium. The evening includes performances from 5 schools and is open to the public. The VMHS Academic Decathlon Team competed at the Sinton Invitational Practice Meet over the weekend and did very well. The team tied for first in the SuperQuiz event and placed second overall in the medium school category. Gabriela Yeackle placed 5th overall in the Honors division, and Gia Luis and Sahar Mahmood placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the Varsity division. Congratulations to the team and wish them luck as they prepare for the upcoming Regional competition in February.

Mu Alpha Theta, the math honors society, will have its November meeting on Wednesday November 20th before and after school. The morning meeting is at 8:15 in room B236, and the afternoon meeting is at 4:15 in room B236. Members should only attend one of the times.

This past Saturday we hosted the TMEA Region 14 District Band Auditions here at VMHS. We had 63 band students compete against 500 other students for spots in the district band and a chance to advance to Region. 36 of our students made the district band and 27 of them advanced to the region level.

This past weekend Eagle wrestlers competed in the Moody Tournament:

Kya Battle, Autumn Alvarez, Mikayla Hodnett, Natalie Villegas, and Roman Corona won Gold Medals. Adrianna Luna and Mark Libiran earned Silver Medals. Josh Garza and Reagann Herridge took Bronze Medals. The girls finished 2nd as a team and the boys finished 5th.

Bonjour Eagles, Je m’appelle Lauren Rodriguez de la SocietéHonoraire de Françis. This is Lauren from the French Honor Society! Happy National French Week!

Does French ever sound like an impossible language? Did you know that English and French are full of similar words or cognates?

Both languages are Indo-European languages . If we want to get technical, French and English

both trace their origins to an extinct proto-language spoken some 4,500 years ago.

● French speakers invaded and dominated England for centuries. It was after the Norman

invasion of 1066 that English and French really started sharing words. The French invaders

basically replaced the English nobility, as well as a plethora of words (up to 45% of current

English words.) For centuries, English-speaking servants served French-speaking masters.

This is why many English words that predate 1066 have a French-derived synonym.

● As neighbors, England and France have also exchanged words . France is the closest

mainland European country to England, separated only by a narrow channel. It’s no surprise

that the two languages have continued to influence each other’s languages throughout history.

Today many new words have been added to the French lexicon, including week-end , shopping ,

jogging , marketing and fast-food .

Examples:

Ce week-end nous allons faire du shopping. (This weekend we are going to go shopping.)

Je fais du jogging tous les matins. (I go jogging every morning.)

This past Saturday our Awesome VMHS Choir students competed in Region Treble and Region Mixed/Pre-Area Choir Auditions- the second round of TMEA All-State Choir Auditions. We had 18 students make the Region Treble choir. We had 42 students make the Region Mixed Choir, with 5 alternates. These students will be performing this Saturday at the TMEA Region 14 Choir Concert at 6 pm at the Victoria Performing Arts Center in Victoria, Texas.

A Huge Congratulations to our 14 students and 6 alternates who placed in the top 5 of each section to move on to the final round of auditions for the TMEA All-State Choir is Area in January 2020.

These students have broken last year’s record with most students placed in each choir in the district as well as the region! Please congratulate these students on working hard and representing VMHS and CCISD!

We are excited to announce that this Saturday , at UIL Region Marching Contest, the Screaming Eagle Band received 1's from all 3 judges and earned their 1st trip to the Uil Area Marching Contest. The band will compete against 30 bands in Weslaco next Saturday for a chance to advance to the UIl State Marching Contest in November. The National Security Language Initiative for Youth is part of a U.S. government initiative that prepares American citizens to be leaders in a global world. It is important that Americans have the necessary linguistic skills and cultural knowledge to effectively communicate internationally. Good morning. My name is Kaylani Phillips and I am the Co-Secretary of the National Spanish Honor Society. This morning, I am going to give you information about Justice Sonia Sotomayor for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican-born parents, Justice Sotomayor went to both Yale and Princeton. She was the first Hispanic-American Supreme Court Justice. Before being appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Obama in 2009, Justice Sotomayor was on the board of directors of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals, and an instructor at New York School of Law and Columbia Law School.

She was in the majority in two keystone Supreme Court rulings in Obama’s last term: King v. Burwell and Obergefell v. Hodges.

Last week we had 8 students audition for a spot in the TMEA Region Jazz Ensemble. Blaine Majors will represent VMHS as the 1st chair Tenor Sax. The concert will take place January 25th in our auditorium.

Also, tomorrow night at 7pm all CCISD drill teams & marching bands will be performing at the CCISD halftime showcase @ Buc Stadium. The event begins at 7pm and the Starline & Screaming Eagle Band will perform at approximately 7:20. We hope to see all of you there and thank you for your continued support.

Hello, my name is Joshua Garcia and I am the Co-secretary of the Spanish Honor Society. This morning, I am going to give you information about the Chicano Movement.

Spanning the 1960’s and 1970’s, the Chicano Movement was led by Dr. Hector P. Garcia, César Chavez, Dolores Huerta and others. The movement sought to bring awareness to the injustices that many Hispanics in the United States were facing. There were four parts to the movement: restoring land grants, promoting farmworkers’ rights, allowing equal access to both education and politics and addressing negative stereotypes in mass media and the American consciousness. Similar to the Civil Rights Movement, the Chicano Movement allowed for Hispanics to “spur social change” in the country, which in turn has created a brighter, more equal future for Hispanics in the United States.

Good morning. My name is Alissa Hernandez and I am the vice-president of the National Spanish Honor Society. This morning, I am going to give you information about Ynes Mexia for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Stuck in an unhappy marriage and living on a ranch in Mexico, her father’s home country, she suffered a nervous breakdown. Sent to San Francisco for treatment, Mexía was quickly drawn into the budding environmentalist movement there, joining the Save-the-Redwoods League and the fledgling Sierra Club. Regaining the American citizenship she had given up as a young woman, she left her old life behind and threw herself into the study of botany. She embarked on a series of expeditions, often accompanied only by native guides, traveling the wilds of South America and Mexico well into her senior years. In 1925, Mexía ventured to the Chiles-Cerro Negro volcanic complex, on the border of Colombia and Ecuador, where she collected some 500 plant specimens, 50 of them undiscovered by the scientific community. A prolific collector, Mexía’s legacy remains important today.

Good morning. My name is Kathleen Ferrell and I am the president of the National Spanish Honor Society. This morning, I am going to provide information about Hispanic Heritage Month.

Each year, the United States honors the contributions that Latinos have made to our country with a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration that runs from September 15 to October 15. This annual month-long celebration began 30 years ago, but its inception stretches back farther. Congress first passed a resolution to celebrate Hispanic heritage at the national level as a weeklong event on September 17, 1968. Nearly 20 years later, on August 17, 1988, President Ronald Reagan stretched the celebrations to a month, from September 15 to October 15.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed in the United States, Canada, and Latin America. September 15 was chosen as the start date in order to coincide with the Independence Day celebrations of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile observe their independence on September 16 and September 18, respectively.

Members of la Sociedad made paper flowers and posters with information on universities in the Spanish-speaking countries. Each week during Hispanic Heritage Month, we will bring you information on an important Hispanic theme.

Attention Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors: Starting on Friday, September 13, we have several college recruiters scheduled to present to students on the VMHS campus. Recruiter visits occur during the school day and usually last around 1 hour. Some of the colleges already scheduled include Texas A&M University, St. Edward’s University, Trinity University, University of Houston, and Texas Christian University. To sign up to attend one or more of these visits, go to the veterans home page, click on campus, and then click on college & career. Click on the College Visits & Events link and use your CCISD Gmail account to sign up.

The ASVAB Exam is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17 at 9:00 AM. Any 10th, 11th. Or 12th grade students wishing to serve in the military OR who are just interested in completing some career exploration are welcome to take this free exam. If you are interested in serving in the military, it is REQUIRED. You can sign up online through the College Visits & Events section of the College Center website OR by speaking with Mr. Davis in the College & Career Center.

The Exploring College Options Group will host an informational session for students interested in applying to Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, & Stanford. This session will be on Monday, September 16 at 7:00 PM at the Omni Hotel. The event is free, but you must register in advance. The registration link can be found on the College Visits & Events section of the College Center website.

FCA Student leadership will meet Wednesday morning at 8:15 in room A117. Even if you weren’t able to attend Saturday’s leadership training and want to be a leader this year please attend.

At your recent blood drive a total of 142 Donors were seen, with a total collection of 119 successful blood donations. This is the equivalent of 357 lives saved (remember, each whole blood donation has the ability to save up to three lives). Our next blood drive is October 30th. Way to go Eagles.
