Action Center Job Description

TITLE:         Administrative Assistant (Volunteer or hosted program participant)

DESCRIPTION:   Help people interested in volunteering identify their passion and find a meaningful volunteer opportunity.  Receive visitors and phone calls plus help individuals as needed.

OBJECTIVE:  To make it easy for volunteers to link their passion with a meaningful volunteer opportunity and support Community Link (CLABQ) administrative requirements.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Working knowledge of internet research, CLABQ database usage, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

SKILLS:        Pleasant demeanor on the telephone. Attention to detail.  Able to engage people in discussion of their passion concerning volunteering.  Able to collect data from various organizations through phone conversations and reviewing internet websites.

EDUCATION:  None required

TIME COMMITMENT:         As many hours  per week as desired (Monday through Saturday).  This may vary.        

SUPERVISED BY:        Action Center Director, Resource Coordinator or Supervisor (Depending on personnel availability)                

WORKING WITH:        People interested in volunteering, Volunteer Staff at the Action Center plus faith based and other organizations.                

WORK LOCATION:        Action Centers                

AGE REQUIREMENTS:        At least 18 years old                


OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:        Depending on the programs personnel may be in, job skills will be developed through the training program.  Comply with all policies. Signing of a Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest form is required.  A sex offender registry check will be conducted.  If a person is on the registry they will not be allowed to work in the Action Center because children and vulnerable individuals are present at times.  Hosted program participants will not normally travel away from the worksite except for volunteer appreciation events that may be held at other Community Link locations.

Specific Duties: (Include but not exclusive)

  1. Duties include items in the Data Development Specialist Job Description.
  2. Schedule meetings, presentations and presenters.
  3. Perform office administrative functions.
  4. Answer phones and deal with issues identified.
  5. Perform front desk/receptionist function.
  6. Maintain files and records.
  7. Make copies and send FAXs as necessary.
  8. For people in a hosted program they will comply with their program requirements.
  9. Assist in setting up and scheduling service projects for groups.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
