*CHANGE THE YELLOW TO FIT YOURSELF*

Dear Preet Kaur Gill

My name is Davinder Kaur Kular and I am a member of the West Bromwich East constituency (include full postal address here and can be reached at: provide a contact telephone number here). I am British citizen, born and raised in Birmingham. I am reaching out to you today in hopes of change. As you may already know the government of India has passed three agricultural laws on the 27th September 2020. Recent farm ordinances take away any guarantee of minimum support prices (MSP’s) and allow for corporations to monopolise Punjab’s farming economy, driving crop prices so low that small farmers will be unable to survive. Crippled with insurmountable debt from unpredictable harvests and a forced dependence on expensive pesticides, farmers are dying by suicide at alarming rates.

Farmers are the backbone of our society, they feed cities and right now the farmers of India are under attack.

We are currently witnessing a moment in history as farmers are marching in the middle of a pandemic. Even though they have always maintained their efforts to be of a peaceful nature they have been met with extreme violence from state authorities who have launched tear gas and used water cannons. The fact that those farmers and in most instances elderly who are suffering in their plight for justice and human rights have met violence from the very people who are meant to protect them but have failed to do so. This is where your help is enlisted. I am seeking your assistance in elevating and amplifying this humanitarian issue in parliament to help highlight the injustices taking place to an international level in hopes to achieve and create change.

Kind regards,

Davinder Kaur Kular
