Enabling Closed Caption on Computer for a DVD Using VLC Media Player

You first must set up VLC to be able to display CC.

Open VLC player (the icon looks like a road construction cone):

Select: 

Once enabled follow these instructions to play DVD with Closed Captions:

Open VLC Media Player; Insert DVD

Click the play button           ; Select Disc from the open media window then select Play.

Start your movie, as the movie is playing right click on the video, a menu should be displayed on the screen.  Select the Video option, select Subtitles Track option.  You can then select Closed Caption 1.  Close window and the close captioning should then appear on the screen.

You may have to set this for each DVD you play if it has the closed caption capability.

For  videos online (YouTube, CNN, etc.) once the video is selected, if it has Closed Caption capabilities, you can click on the CC box/tab and enable it.

Not all videos (DVD and Online) support CC
