Membership

We now have 200 members, with several member applications pending. Cap at 200.

With 200 interesting Presqu’ile Probus Club members, a variety of interest groups take place weekly, monthly or as arranged by the participants.

We have groups for:

*Readers – Two Book Clubs are at capacity and meet regularly. Prose & Cons Book Club. Several members have indicated interest in a New Book Club. Action Suggestion: Members get together after the General Meeting to plan (day/time etc.) and choose a coordinator for a new book club.

*Players – The Bridge Group (2nd & 4th Thursday). New players welcome! We play to have fun.

*Progressive Euchre Group (2nd Tues. & 3rd Wed.). Sign-up lists at every meeting for hosts and players.

*Games Group. We are starting a new Games Group. Details and sign-ups at the next meeting.

*Musicians and Music Lovers – The Musical Union meets on the 4th Tuesday at 2pm. Just jamming. Bring your instruments.

*Three Tune Treat. Spend a pleasant meet-up sharing 3 of your favourite recorded tunes. A New Club member has volunteered to coordinate. More details at the sign-up table.

*Friendly Competitors – Table Tennis group. This is a seasonal group. Julia will host active members at her home when the weather gets colder

*Bowlers – meet every Thursday at 1:30pm. All members are invited to drop in. $15.00/3 games. Shoe rental $3.00. Focus on fun. We bowl everyday Thursday at 1:30pm at Presqu’ile Lanes in downtown Brighton.

We play for fun! No set teams. Non-competitive. Come on out, regularly or occasionally. Every skill level welcome, including newbies.

**Golfers – Hit the links from May to September, usually playing best ball, 9 holes with a power cart. Participation in cooperation with The Brighton Probus Club. See you next season.

*Walkers – The Walking Group meet every Monday shortly before 9am at the parking lot adjacent to the entrance of Presqu’ile Provincial Park. Participants car-pool into the park after deciding on a route to walk. Pace yourself.

*Diners – The Lunch Bunch after the monthly General Meeting, dining at a variety of venues vetted by the coordinators. Sign-up at the Lunch Bunch table.

*Socializers - Appies & Wine (or any beverage you prefer). Happy Hours - meet in a smaller social setting of a member’s home, Wednesdays, 5-8pmish, throughout the year. Frequency determined by volunteer hosts. The guests bring an appetizer to share and their own beverage. Hosts provide plates, cutlery & glasses and a welcoming atmosphere. This is where you can meet fun people.

*Travelers – The Travel Group: join like minded members on a traveling adventure. Stay tuned for some exciting trips planned in 2025.

*Writers Group -  When the group got together, none of us had read our work out loud to others, but that has become a regular feature of our meetings. Rod read a passage from his WWII drama, the pursuit of the German battleship, Bismarck, and the heavy cruiser, Prinz Eugen, in the North Atlantic. This particular battle didn’t end well for the Allies, resulting in the sinking of the British battleship, Hood. Rod left us wondering how/if the German ships would be caught. Don’t disappoint us, Rod.

Chris continues writing and researching her novel, set in Scotland. Research is an important part of the process and, as a novel can take years to put together, you have to enjoy the process. If you think I stole that line from the author, Jane Urqhuart, during her recent talk at the library, I’m guilty as charged. Ian read a chapter from his series of humorous short stories about a ten-year-old in 1960 England, decades before video games and the internet. Ian is currently trying to navigate the murky waters of self-publishing.

*Lunch Bunch

The Lunch Bunch Team is hard at work on plans for lunch locations in 2025. Stay tuned!

No Lunch Bunch in September, as Lunch was served at the AGM meeting. In October the Lunch Bunch will be in Coburg.
